What You Need To Know:
Chapter 1 of THE WINGFEATHER SAGA is a wonderful opening to the new series. It’s full of imaginative creatures, amazing songs and themes of family, nobility, sacrifice, doing the right thing, and even a scene of prayer. The animation style is unique and helps Andrew Peterson’s fantasy books come to life. The voice acting is top-notch as well. THE WINGFEATHER SAGA’s first episode is a refreshing program that children and their parents can enjoy together. Due to some scary creatures, however, MOVIEGUIDE® advises some caution for younger children.

More Detail:
THE WINGFEATHER SAGA is a new animated series on Angel Studios based on Andrew Peterson book series of the same name.
In Chapter 1, “Leeli & the Sea Dragon Song,” the Igiby family are prepping for dinner. Leeli is the youngest of the Igiby children. She has two older brothers, Janner and Tink. They live with their mother, Nia, and their grandfather, Podo.
Despite their quiet lives, a sense of danger surrounds the Igiby family. Their homeland is occupied by Fang, lizard-like creatures repelled by anything good. Podo warns Janner and Tink not to wander into the forest, because creatures like Toothy Cows and Digtoads live in the forests around their home.
That night at dinner, a group of Fang appear at the family’s doorstep and confiscate one of their garden tools, claiming it could be used as a weapon. The next morning, the family head into town to celebrate Dragon Day with the rest of their friends. However, not everyone is excited for the one day of freedom, because the Fang have started to round up men and children to take to their leader.
Leeli finds herself alone while everyone celebrates and is bullied by a particularly mean Fang character. However, Janner and Tink show up at the perfect moment to save their sister. As they try to escape, they find themselves at the cliff edge overlooking a great sea of dragons.
Their interaction with a sea dragon turns magical, as each of the Igibys leaves with a special sign, but they must keep it to themselves, as other dangers threaten their family.
