Our Favorite Kids & Family Series of 2024

After a great year of kid’s shows across all platforms, we have gathered together our favorites, the ones we think your kids won’t want to miss! BLUEY continues to be a forerunner among children this year, as well as GABBY’S DOLLHOUSE, both emphasizing themes of love, generosity, and imagination. We also love faith-based series like WINGFEATHER SAGA and TUTTLE TWINS. Check out this wrap-up of our favorite kid’s series streaming in 2024.
THE WINGFEATHER SAGA: CHAPTER 1: "Leeli & the Sea Dragon Song"

(Discernment required for young children.)Chapter 1 of THE WINGFEATHER SAGA, “Leeli & the Sea Dragon Song,” an animated fantasy series streaming on Angel Studios, is about three children who stumble into trouble when they encounter a race of lizard-like creatures repelled by anything good. Chapter 1 of THE WINGFEATHER SAGA is a wonderful opening to the series, full of imaginative creatures, amazing songs, and themes of family, nobility, sacrifice, doing the right thing, and even a scene of prayer, but some of the creatures may scare younger children.

TUTTLE TWINS: Episodes 301-303

(Discernment required for young children.)The first three episodes of TUTTLE TWINS: Season Three on Angel Studios, TUTTLE TWINS follows the Tuttle family as they travel through space and time learn about the pros and cons of attending college, the importance of homes with fathers, and the value of critical thinking skills. The first three episodes of TUTTLE TWINS: Season Three are an animated triumph with sparks of humor and positive lessons about economics, hard work, personal responsibility, honesty, critical thinking skills, helping your neighbors, and the importance of fathers, but the episodes are a bit preachy and feature some light cartoon violence.

BLUEY MINISODES: Episodes 1.1-1.7

(Media-wisdom is suggested to discuss.)The first seven programs in BLUE MINISODES on Disney+ highlight the “role play” activities Bluey has with her sister, Bingo, and their father, Bandit, including pretending to be a broken robot, reading one of the father’s school reports when he was five, and hearing a wacky version of the Big Bad Wolf fairy tale. The first seven programs of BLUEY MINISODES are funny and enjoyable, with a strong morally uplifting portrayal of a happy, engaged family.

GABBY’S DOLLHOUSE: Episodes 10.1 to 10.3

(Discernment required for young children.)GABBY’S DOLLHOUSE is a fun children’s series on Netflix with animation and live action, where each episode shows Gabby and her cat friends enjoying fun adventures in her magical dollhouse, and where the first three episodes of Season 10 show Gabby and her friends celebrating Gabby’s birthday, meeting a new friend and using a magic wishing well. The first three episodes of GABBY’S DOLLHOUSE: Season 10 have a strong moral worldview promoting creativity, friendship and kindness, but there are some magical elements in each episode.

BLUEY: Season One

Season One of BLUEY is a high quality, entertaining production with bright colors and a moral worldview promoting family, kindness and other valuable lessons such as sharing and growing up.

LEGO FRIENDS 2.1-2.3

-1 Caution advised for older children, including teenagers, and sensitive adults.Episodes 1 to 3 of Season 2 of LEGO FRIENDS follows a group of friends as they navigate life, learn lessons about working together, being kind, and embracing what makes them different. The series has a high production value, with a fun animation style and interesting characters, as well as a largely moral worldview. However, Episode 3 contains a storyline with paganistic luck themes, so parents should exercise caution.

HOT WHEELS LET’S RACE: Season One

WONDEROOS: Episode 1.1-1.3

+2 Moderately questionable elements.WONDEROOS is an animated series for preschoolers on Netflix that follows young animal friends who learn about life’s “firsts” and how they should respond to them. The production values of the first three episodes of WONDEROOS are good, with fun and colorful animation and catchy songs that help reinforce the valuable lessons the characters just learned, but the first episode is about bathroom issues having to do with potty training.

CHIP ‘N’ DALE: PARK LIFE: Episodes 1.1-10

(Discernment required for young children.)In CHIP ‘N’ DALE: PARK LIFE, Chip and Dale, the wildly mischievous dynamic duo, live in a park that has a new adventure for them to seek out every day. With no discernible dialogue and simple animation, CHIP ‘N’ DALE: PARK LIFE isn’t the best animation by Disney and warrants caution for young children for some carton violence and stealing, but anyone can learn to do the right thing and love others the way Chip and Dale do in the first season of this TV series on Disney Plus.

(Discernment required for young children.)BATWHEELS is an animated series streaming on Netf lix that follows a team of hero vehicles as they help others throughout Gotham City. Batman and other classic heroes and villains interact with the cars, advising them to help save the city. The series is very artistic, animated, and entertaining. The primary worldview is moral, with the main characters working together to do good and help others. There is light violence and a few scary elements, but BATWHEELS is worth watching overall.
