What You Need To Know:

GOOD SAM is a comical mystery movie streaming on Netflix about a young woman named Kate, a breaking news reporter who covers a story about a Good Samaritan who anonymously leaves money to those in need. Kate is skeptical of “Good Sam’s” motives and seeks to uncover his or her identify by following any leads she can. Kate’s news station ends up giving the story to a more experienced reporter, but she gets a lead when she gets a text message from someone claiming to be Good Sam.

GOOD SAM is engaging and entertaining but slightly predictable. The characters are fairly appealing, however. Even better, it’s filled with positive Christian, biblical messages that obviously draw on the biblical story found in Luke 10. It also promotes acts of kindness, hope, receiving gifts that offer blessings for others, gratitude, and healthy father/daughter relationships. GOOD SAM also contains positive scenes mentioning going to church and with a character saying they’re inspired by faith. Due to a few scenes with alcohol, high stakes and some light miscellaneous immorality, MOVIEGUIDE® advises caution for younger children.

Foul Language:
  two obscenities plus an “oh my gosh”;

Violence:
  Fire at the beginning of the movie shows peril, but nobody gets hurt, firefighter saves a man dangling from scaffolding, noticeable tension between two characters in one scene, but they don’t get into a fight, and character recounts a story about his brother passing away by falling off a boat, but audiences don’t see anything from his story;

More Detail:

GOOD SAM is a TV movie streaming on Netflix about a news reporter who covers a story about a Good Samaritan who anonymously leaves money to those in need. GOOD SAM is engaging and entertaining with a positive, inspiring Christian, moral worldview, but it’s a bit predictable.

GOOD SAM starts out in New York City with Kate Bradley, a motivated breaking news reporter who’s trying to get an exclusive on an active building fire. To Kate’s frustration, she gets put on a new story by her boss because her station is wary of her risky reporting antics. What’s the story? It’s about a “Good Sarmatian” who’s been leaving $100,000 for deserving people.

Kate has a close relationship with her father who’s a senator. At an event with him, she meets Jack Hansen, a hopeful political official who asks her out. She says no. Meanwhile, Kate comes to enjoy her new “Good Samaritan” story. This leads her to meet Eric, a fireman she hopes to get to know better.

In New York, “the Good Samaritan” becomes the talk of the town. Who is this generous person? That’s the question everyone including Kate can’t figure out. Her news station ends up giving the story to a more experienced reporter, but Kate gets a lead that gives her pull with the station again when she gets a text message from someone claiming to be Good Sam.

Will Kate be safe? Who’s the real Good Sam? Why would someone be this generous and expect nothing in return?
