Weekend Reviews

THE ANGRY BIRDS MOVIE 2

Quality:
****
Content:
+1 Moderately questionable elements. (Discernment required for young children.)
THE ANGRY BIRDS MOVIE 2 is a sweet sequel that follows Red and his friends as they team up with their arch-rivals from Pig Island to stop a threat to their homeland. THE ANGRY BIRDS MOVIE 2 is witty, fun and ultimately redemptive for many characters. That said, MOVIEGUIDE® advises caution for younger children for some light profanities, toilet humor, animated violence, and other miscellaneous elements.

AQUARELA

Quality:
***
Content:
-1 Caution advised for older children, including teenagers, and sensitive adults.
AQUARELA is a visually stunning Russian documentary, with barely any dialogue, about the complexity of water in all its various states in nature. Filmmakers of AQUARELA captivates viewers with a clever soundtrack that fits the onscreen action and a sped-up frames per second ratio that aids the storytelling showing the sheer force of water, with little to no objectionable content. MOVIEGUIDE® advises light caution for some intense natural violence and a light obscenity.

47 METERS DOWN: UNCAGED

Quality:
***
Content:
-2 Extreme caution for older teenagers and adults.
47 METERS DOWN: UNCAGED is a thriller about four American high school students living in the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico, including two estranged sisters, who encounter great white sharks while exploring an underwater cave filled with ancient Mayan ruins. 47 METERS DOWN: UNCAGED sometimes stretches credulity, but it delivers intense thrills and shocks, with a wild but exciting ending and a nice side story of two sisters overcoming their differences. MOVIEGUIDE® advises extreme caution because of the movie’s scary encounters with Nature’s pitfalls and some light foul language.

GOOD BOYS

Quality:
**
Content:
-4 Intentional blasphemy, evil, gross immorality, and/or worldview problems. (To be avoided)
GOOD BOYS is a raunchy, lewd comedy about three foul mouthed 6th Grade boys who get into trouble when they “borrow” a drone to spy on two older teenage girls. In between all the obscenity and R-rated lewd references, GOOD BOYS has some brief funny moments, but it’s a truly abhorrent, loathsome comedy promoting the destruction of children’s innocence and purity.

WHERE’D YOU GO, BERNADETTE

Quality:
****
Content:
-2 Extreme caution for older teenagers and adults.
WHERE’D YOU GO, BERNADETTE follows a formerly very successful architect navigating her life and family problems after what she considers to be a great failure. WHERE’D YOU GO, BERNADETTE is a sweet, well-told story about a family trying to be there for each other, but it has a Romantic worldview with a slightly excessive amount of foul language, some brief drug references and examples of dysfunctional behavior. So, MOVIEGUIDE® advises extreme caution.
