Lionsgate Films premiered its new political documentary, AMERICA: IMAGINE THE WORLD WITHOUT HER, in downtown Los Angeles Tuesday night. The movie is based on the book by co-director Dinesh D’Souza’s, whose previous documentary, 2016: OBAMA’S AMERICA, became the second most successful political documentary of all time in 2012, behind Michael Moore’s FAHRENHEIT 911. “This film attempts to make a moral defense of America against other Americans,” D’Souza told a packed house of VIPs and conservatives at LA Live’s main theater. He encouraged the audience to get involved in Hollywood and the media. “[Leftists] in Hollywood and the media have been shifting the goalposts,” he said. “We have to engage this cultural battle. We can’t let the culture slip away from us.” “I just want to thank the crew who worked on this,” co-director John Sullivan said. “It was just a hard-working crew.” The new movie is based on D’Souza’s most recent book. Like the book, the movie refutes five major attacks on America’s historical record from the radical socialist left. It shows how each of the accusations gives a distorted, false impression of America and its basic values, which are based on biblical principles.
