Disney Makes Major Animation Announcements at D23 Expo

Thousands of Disney fans from around the world have gathered in Anaheim, California for Disney’s Fourth Annual D23 Expo. Movieguide®

At the Disney Animation presentation, John Lasseter announced a new adaptation of the classic “Jack and the Beanstalk” and will be title GIGANTIC. Nathan Greno (TANGLED) will Direct the movie. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson also made a surprise appearance to talk about MOANA, an animated adventure taking place in the South Pacific Islands. Johnson stated that it had been his goal since early on in his career to star in a Disney movie. ZOOTOPIA, Disney’s next Animated movie slated to be released March 4, 2016 about a modern mammal metropolis with anthropomorphic animals also announced that Shakira would join Jason Bateman and Ginnifer Goodwin as voice talent. Ginnifer Goodwin is no stranger to the Disney world as she portrays Snow White on the ABC hit TV series ONCE UPON A TIME. While there were no casting announcements or plot details revealed, the anticipated sequel to the worldwide phenomena FROZEN is said to be in development and the creative teams are working hard.

After showing some clips of Pixar’s THE GOOD DINOSAUR, which debuts this November, Andrew Stanton came onstage to discuss FINDING DORY. Hayden Rolence will voice Nemo, a new actor due to the original young boy being to old to voice our favorite clown fish. The sequel of course follows amnesiac Dory who recalls childhood memories and decides to find her family. Ellen Degeneres and newcomer to the Pixar movie Ed O’Neill were present to show some clips. Finally, John Lasseter discussed TOY STORY 4 and revealed that the story would be a romantic one between Woody and Bo Peep. TOY STORY 4 was written by Will McCormick and Rashida Jones.
