More Detail:

DOUBLE HOLIDAY is a Hallmark Channel Christmas movie about that celebrates the traditions of both Christmas and Hanukkah. The movie follows two co-workers, who are both up for the same promotion, tasked with planning a Christmas party in one week to impress a potential client. Warm and appealing, though perhaps a little too predictable at the end, DOUBLE HOLIDAY has a strong moral worldview promoting the importance of family and giving back to others. It also features some Christian, biblical elements that include a baptism and some Jewish, biblical elements that include a celebration of Hannukah.

The movie opens with Rebecca on her way to work. When she gets to the office, her co-worker Amy tells her the Vice President has just left the company. That means Rebecca, or her fellow co-worker, Chris, will be getting promoted to the newly open position.

Their boss, Jane, calls them into a meeting to tell them the news. When Rebecca asks what she can do to help during the busy season, Jane tells Rebecca she’s in charge of the Christmas party, which will be used to woo a big potential client. Jane tells Rebecca that Chris can help her, and neither Rebecca nor Chris are happy because they don’t work particularly well together. Plus, they both want to shine for the promotion.

Rebecca and Chris have seven days to get the party together. So, they try to devote all their time to the party. They head to Jane’s house to plan, but Rebecca has to leave early, because she’s in charge of cooking and hosting her family for the first night of Hanukkah. When Chris shows up to her house asking questions about the party, Rebecca is in the middle of burning the food, so Chris steps in to help. When Rebecca’s family arrives, they are confused why Chris is there because she’s always talked about how horrible he was in a work environment. The family ends up hitting it off with Chris, and he’s invited to celebrate Hannukkah with them all week.

Cut to Jane, Chris and Rebecca’s boss. She returns from a short business trip to find her house decorated in a white Christmas theme, and she isn’t fond of it. Rebecca and Chris start to think of what they can do to make it better. During this time, Chris tells Rebecca how different she is around her family and how he likes that version of her better than the front she puts on at the office. Rebecca then returns the compliment, and viewers can see the sparks start to fly between the two of them, though they won’t admit it. This inspires Rebecca to pitch Jane a new idea.

Rebecca pitches Jane on the idea of a family-friendly Christmas party, as the new client loves family and has dedicated his life to his mother’s idea of having youth centers all over the city for children. Jane gives the go ahead, and the entire plan switches direction.

A few nights before the big party, Rebecca, her family and Chris volunteer at one of the clients already existing youth centers. Rebecca finds out that Chris volunteers at the center on a regular basis and even mentors a young boy there. To their surprise the potential client is there, and they are able to sell him a bit on their thoughts, and the client ends up liking them.

Rebecca and Chris continue to put the final touches on the Christmas party while spending time with her family, and it’s clear to other people that they like one another. Rebecca still won’t admit it, however. So, when Chris hears her say this, it nearly ruins their relationship.

Will Rebecca and Chris fall in love while finishing the party? Or will the thought of one of them being promoted over the other tear them apart?
