UNDERCOVER ANGEL

"Ask and Your Prayers Will Be Answered"

What You Need To Know:

UNDERCOVER ANGEL on UPtv follows Robin, a divorced mother, and her daughter, Sophie, who move to a new town to get a start fresh. Sophie prays for someone to help them fix the house. Her prayer is answered when Henry enters their lives. However, the truth about Henry is unknown. Although Henry helps Robin and Sophie fix the house, he ends up making a bigger impact than just fixing the house.

UNDERCOVER ANGEL is entertaining, wholesome and heartwarming. The plot is interesting, easy to follow, and has some fun character development. UNDERCOVER ANGEL has a strong moral worldview with strong Christian elements. It promotes family, friendship, hope, prayer, and community. For example, Sophie prays for a miracle in her mother’s life, and her prayer is answered when an angel comes to help them. MOVIEGUIDE® advises caution for older children and adults, however, because of some bad theology. For example, UNDERCOVER ANGELS calls angelic powers “magic” and falsely says angels can ask to be turned into human beings. Otherwise, however, UNDERCOVER ANGEL presents a great opportunity for families to explore all the biblical passages that mention angels.

More Detail:

UNDERCOVER ANGEL follows the story of a divorced mother named Robin and her daughter named Sophie who move to a new town for a fresh start. However, their worlds change when Henry enters their lives to fix up the new house. UNDERCOVER ANGEL contains a strong moral worldview with some Christian elements that promotes family, friendship, hope, prayer, and community, marred, regrettably, by an aberrant non-Christian theology. Characters kiss onscreen, but the movie doesn’t contain any objectionable or offensive content. it does not contain any sex, violence, or foul language.

UNDERCOVER ANGEL begins as a divorced mother named Robin and her daughter Sophie move to a new town for a fresh start. Robin purchases an old house she wants to fix up, but on her first night she has trouble fixing it by herself. Sophie overhears her mother upset and prays for someone to enter their lives who can fix the house for them.

An angel named Henry is assigned to assist Robin and fix her house up. However, he must follow the three rules of being an angel which is respecting free will, not meddling in humans’ lives, and not using “magic” around humans (these are not biblical). If Henry breaks the three rules, he will be taken off the assignment and given a new task.

Robin goes to the local hardware store to discuss contractors with the employees there, but Henry shows up on her doorstep as a handyman. His appearance confuses Robin, because she didn’t call Henry beforehand and has no idea how he got to her home. Robin is hesitant to hire Henry but she ends up hiring him anyway because Sophie “has a good feeling” about Henry.

Henry makes a couple mistakes along the way but ends up improving the house day by day. Although Henry’s there to fix the house, he ends up creating a friendship with Sophie and helps her practice for soccer. He also provides comfort and friendship for Robin who is lonely, and the three often eat dinner together. Henry and Robin kiss which breaks the 3 rules, and Henry is taken off the assignment after he uses his “angel magic” to fix the entire house.

Without Henry, Robin becomes sad and lonely, and Henry feels the same. Henry tells “upper management” he’s fallen in love with Robin and would like to become a human, but his wish is denied. Can Robin and Henry find true happiness?

UNDERCOVER ANGEL is entertaining and very heartwarming. The plotline is interesting and easy to follow, and there are some fun character development in the script. UNDERCOVER ANGEL has a very strong moral worldview with some strong Christian elements. It promotes family, friendship, hope, prayer, and community. For example, a daughter prays for a miracle in her mother’s life, her prayer is answered, and an angel is sent from Heaven to assist them. Also, the movie is pretty wholesome.

The only real problem is that there is some bad, false theology about angels. Angels are special beings created by God, separate from human beings. Contrary to the movie, angels can’t become human. In fact, the Bible says a lot about angels and what it means to be a human, but it never says angels can become human, and says in 1 Corinthians 6:13 that repentant humans will judge the angels in Heaven. If angels could become humans, this passage from Corinthians wouldn’t make sense.

Therefore, MOVIEGUIDE® advises caution for older children and adults for UNDERCOVER ANGEL. If you and your family decide to watch UNDERCOVER ANGEL, it would be a good opportunity to study all the biblical passages about angels. You can find a great online list of such passages at “What is an angel?,” https://carm.org/what-angel.
