The movie opens with a Reality TV producer named Diane assigned a task to check out a new 5-star spa hotel in California. The drive to the spa is hours away, and Diane’s car breaks down ion the way. She walks to the nearest place to stay, which happens to be a smaller local bed and breakfast called Forest Cove.

Forest Cove is owned by a lovely woman named Helen and her adult son, Andy. Although the bed and breakfast is old and rundown, the memories and community spirit keep visitors coming back there. Diane extends her stay at the bed and breakfast and spends time with Helen cooking and cleaning. Andy tells Diane the place is losing money and might have to shut down. After hearing the news, Diane decides that her reality television boss should review Forest Cove instead of the expensive spa because he could give the bed and breakfast some positive marketing.

Diane and Andy begin spending time together fixing up Forest Cove, so that it will look great for the television episode. Andy and Diane grow close, but Andy’s hesitant to start a relationship because he’s decided to move to Australia.

Eventually, Diane finds out that her boss wants to make Forest Cove look bad for more ratings. He stages pranks to make the house look disastrous and outdated. When Diane finds out about his plan, she stages her own plan to get Helen and Andy to back out of the TV episode.
