Disney+’s OUT Is About ‘Coming Out’ as Homosexual to Your Parents

Disney+’s new short OUT is all about coming out to your parents as preferring to identify as homosexual.
“On an average day, Greg’s life is filled with family, love and a rambunctious little dog – but despite all of this, Greg has a secret. Today is different, because he might learn that he has nothing to hide,” IMDb reads.
OUT stylistically promotes homosexuality to the children and families who watch.
Comments on Disney+’s Instagram account shared mixed perspectives on the subject matter. Some quoted scripture in opposition while others praised Disney for LGBTQ representation.

Disney has faced some backlash for integrating LGBTQ characters in its movies and TV shows. Furthermore, the Walt Disney Company has had very debauched dark periods, especially after Walt died, with the low point being DOWN AND OUT IN BEVERLY HILLS in 1986.
Earlier in 2020, Disney/ Pixar’s ONWARD ruffled feathers with a lesbian character who makes a brief comment about her girlfriend’s daughter.
As Movieguide® previously reported, the role is so small, though, that LGBTQ advocates are complaining because one could “Blink and you miss it.”
Movieguide® highlighted this in the review of the movie.
ONWARD’s lesbian character caused the movie to get banned in four Middle Eastern countries, according to the BBC. In the U.S., however, where ONWARD was made, the cultural norms are different.
OUT released on Disney+ over Memorial Weekend. OUT only has four cast members and the father in the short doesn’t have any lines.
The 9-minute short begins with a disclaimer, “Based on a true story.”
Next, a dog and a cat emerge on a rainbow to observe the characters from a hilltop but not before the cat throws a magic bubble into the air that winds up hitting a dog named Jim.
Jim belongs to Greg, a young man who lives with his boyfriend, Manuel. It’s unclear how old they are, but they’re old enough to be living on their own. The two are in the midst of moving when Manuel leaves for a moment and Greg sees his parents unexpectedly arrive.
Greg says he wishes he was a dog, so that he wouldn’t have to deal with complicated human things like telling his parents he has a boyfriend (he never says the word “homosexual” in the short).
Thanks to the magic bubble that hit Jim, Greg and Jim pull a FREAKY FRIDAY and switch places.
Jim is now human, though he acts like a dog. Greg, meanwhile, is in the dog’s body and tries to hide a photo of him and Manuel. Greg even bites his mother to stop her from seeing the photo.
The mom and dog go outside where the mom tells the dog that she and Greg’s father hope that Greg finds someone who loves him as much as they do.
The mom says, “We hope he makes you happy.”
Though he’s still in dog-form, Greg realizes that his mother knew that he decided in his adolescent stage of cognitive development that he identified as homosexual.
Greg and Jim then return to their original forms.
As the short ends, Manuel and Greg hug and kiss on the mouth before offering hot chocolate to Greg’s parents.
Greg’s father hugs Manuel and shakes his hand. The magical dog and cat hop back onto the magical rainbow and disappear.
Roll credits.
Again, OUT stylistically promotes homosexuality to the children and families who watch.
If your child is scrolling through the myriad of options on Disney+, they could come across OUT.
Regrettably, sometimes even Disney content is plagued by the ways of the world and merits extreme caution.
Childhood is a time for innocence, not a time to be bombarded with sexuality and more mature themes.
Consider the words of family-friendly TV personality Mr. Rogers, “Anyone who does anything to help a child in his life is a hero.”
So, let’s help our children maintain their innocence.
Let’s use our Holy Spirit filled discernment to hold true to biblical values.
