Newly Engaged DUCK DYNASTY Star Bella Robertson: Faith ‘Played the Biggest Role’ In Her Relationship

One day after Thanksgiving, former DUCK DYNASTY star Bella Robertson confirmed her engagement to her boyfriend, Jacob Mayo. As the couple prepares for marriage, they shared how faith is the foundation of their relationship.

“[Faith] played the biggest role in our relationship. I mean a hundred percent. I don’t think there’s any way we would be together without it. In the beginning, we were friends for a long time who played tennis together. We had such a good time hanging out. But we ended up dating right when we started talking about real things,” Robertson told Fox News in an interview.

Robertson continued: “We started talking about our faith and that really started to connect us on a deeper level, a different level than we ever had before. I grew up in a Christian household so it was meaningful to connect with someone through faith.”

Robertson, who is 18 years old, and Mayo, who is 21 years old, are now excited to plan for a summer 2021 wedding.

“I’m so excited. You know, I was thinking, ‘Finally!’ I had a feeling it was coming, but I didn’t know when. So I was very anxious. I was getting my nails done all the time just in case,” Robertson said. “I suspected it was going to happen around the holidays because it would probably be a good time. I figured if it wasn’t now, then definitely Christmas. So when it happened, I was like, ‘Oh my God, that’s it. I’m ready.’ It all felt like a dream.”

Despite their excitement, Robertson said that the pandemic had changed some of her ideas for wedding planning.

“I haven’t really gotten too much into the wedding planning just yet. I’m not sure how it’s all going to go. I know one thing that will be different is shopping for a wedding dress,” Robertson said. “I have a huge family and I’ve always dreamed about everyone coming with me to the shop. But now, most places only let one guest in with the [bride-to-be] so it’s a different kind of pressure. But I definitely want my mom there. I want all my sisters too, but I think my mom would definitely be the one to come with me.”

Robertson said she is thankful for all the family time, even after she—along with her mother Korie and sister, Sadie—contracted COVID-19.

“We all live pretty close to each other and that’s definitely been our best way to cope – spending time with each other. I had COVID, so did my mom and my sister. So it was scary. Especially for my sister, who is pregnant. But we all ended up being OK,” Robertson recalled.

“I’m much better now. The only thing is I still don’t have is my smell, and it’s been two months. I was pretty sick for the time that I had it. I had it for like the whole two weeks. But then there were like three days where I had a very high fever. I could barely stand up. It was really bad for a little bit right there, but I ended up being OK. I’m good now,” Robertson added.

Although Robertson is young at 18, she says that her family has modeled healthy God-centered marriages for her and Jacob.

“I would first say my family is used to it. My parents married at 18. My brother married at 18. My grandparents married at 18. There are so many people in my life who’ve married at 18. And my parents have been together for over 30 years. My grandparents have been together for over 50,” Robertson said. “Some people might not want to get married or won’t meet The One until they’re older. But some people meet The One when they’re young, too. You just have to take a chance. A lot of times, it does work out if you’re committed.”

Robertson and Mayo are still attending college and said that children are not on the radar for a while.

“I’m looking forward to us being together all the time. We do family things right now, but just the opportunity to go everywhere, be together all the time and live together. That’s going to be really exciting to be partners in everything life has to offer,” Robertson said. “We’re both so young. I’m 18 and Jacob’s 21. We’re both in college right now. So we definitely don’t plan on that [children] anytime in the next few years.”
