Kathie Lee Gifford: I’m a Student of the Bible

By Movieguide® Staff

Popular television personality Kathie Lee Gifford did not shy away from the foundation of her faith in a recent interview.

“I’m a student of the Bible, I have been my whole life. Not the terrible translations that exist in the world today, but the authentic Word of God as in the original Greek and Hebrew in the Old Testament and New Testament. When I read the Scripture, nobody ever retired, they just died. They died and went on to an even greater journey with their Creator,” Gifford told The Christian Post.

“I’m just going to keep doing what God has me here to do until He takes me home to do something even more, something even better, something even more glorious that I have no idea …,” she said.

Gifford has been on a press tour for her new book, “It’s Never Too Late.” The inspirational book has given her an opportunity to share how God has used her throughout her career.

Gifford even joked that it was a “Christmas miracle” that her former co-host Hoda Kotb read the book.

Gifford also spoke candidly to Fox News about her relationship with the Lord and how she continues to follow His lead, even now.

“You know, I have respect for people that are able to do that with their lives and sort of control the next chapter of their life. I just trust in God. I get up every morning knowing that He has something new and fresh for me. And I just try to be faithful to it. And that has brought me down an incredibly adventurous journey that I’m still on,” Gifford said.

“… That’s what I’m trying to encourage people to do in their lives. It’s never too late, first of all, to grab God’s hand. No matter how old you are, no matter how much rheumatoid arthritis you’ve got in that hand, you can reach onto God at any time in any way, because He is there. If you’ve already believed in Him in your lifetime, you can draw closer to Him and you can start trusting more. You can start memorizing scripture that feeds your soul,” she continued.

Movieguide® honored Gifford with the Visionary Award at the 2020 Movieguide® Awards Gala and Report to the Entertainment Industry.

“In Him I live, move, and have my being every nanosecond of my life. I don’t split it up,” Gifford said during her acceptance speech. “…That’s not the way God wants us to live our lives. I’ll never believe it, ever. There’s no joy in that. My joy is not negotiable.”
