Actress Stacey Dash Confesses Past Anger: ‘God Has Forgiven Me, How Dare I Not Forgive’

By Movieguide® Staff

In 2014, Stacey Dash stepped away from her acting career and became a controversial political commentator for Fox News.

But the former CLUELESS star has apologized for her fiery political views and said that God “has forgiven” her for her past anger and mistakes.

“I was the angry, conservative, black woman,” the 52-year-old actress told Daily Mail in a recent interview. “And, at that time in my life, it was who I was. I realized in 2016 that anger is unsustainable, and it will destroy you. I made a lot of mistakes because of that anger.”

Dash confessed that her time as an anchor was fueled by anger and apologized for statements she now regrets.

“They were very arrogant and prideful and angry,” Dash said. “And that’s who Stacey was, but that’s not who Stacey is now. Stacey’s someone who has compassion, empathy. God has forgiven me. How dare I not forgive someone else. I don’t want to be judged, so how dare I judge anyone else. So if anyone has ever felt that way about me — like I’ve judged — that I apologize for, because that’s not who I am.”

Dash was an avid supporter of former President Donald Trump, but said a turning point came after the Jan. 6, riot inside the U.S. Capitol.

In 2016, Fox News fired Dash after she said that former President Barack Obama “didn’t give a [expletive] about terrorism.”

Dash revealed that she “never” wants to be a political pundit in a newsroom again.

“I’m not a victim of anyone,” Dash said. “Working for Fox at the time, that was my job. I did my job from the place I was at. Stacey now would never work at Fox, would never work for a news network or be a news contributor.”

Recently, Dash returned to acting and stars as Dr. Mildred Jefferson in the upcoming historical drama, ROE V. WADE.

Although Dash recognizes her mistakes regarding politics in the past, she remains steadfast in her morals.

“I said apolitical, but I have my values and my morals,” Dash said. “My position on abortion is because of my own personal experience. I was on the abortion table with my son. They were about to wheel me into the operating room because I was four months pregnant. I said, ‘God, please, you have to tell me what to do. And I don’t want a sign. I don’t want a whisper. You have to tell me.’

“God spoke to me like thunder, and he said, ‘Keep your son,'” Dash continued. “He even told me it was a boy. I ripped the IV out of my arm, jumped off the table — very dramatic. But my son’s 30 years old today. I’m just so grateful that I took that time and I listened to God. That’s why I’m pro-life, from my own personal experience.”

However, Dash notes that her return to Hollywood is difficult because they have “basically blacklisted” her for being a “black conservative.”

“I don’t believe in identity politics,” Dash said. “I don’t walk around looking at someone and saying, ‘Oh, this is the color of your skin, so, therefore, you are this,’.
