Steve Amerson Shares Christmas Message In Live Performance at FOX Square

By Movieguide® Staff

Singer Steve Amerson recently sang live on FOX Square and announced his new book, “Tales of a Troubadour.”

The traveling singer, or Troubadour, said that he recounts his favorite experiences and performances from around the country in his new book.

“I’ve been a troubadour for a long time, a troubadour being a traveling minstrel,” he told FOX & FRIENDS. “These are some stories of places I’ve sung including Carnegie Hall and the Hollywood Bowl and the United States Capitol. So just some nice stories.”

Amerson also highlights his global travels and his desire to sing to the glory of God.

“In Tales of a Troubadour, Steve Amerson takes readers on a behind the scenes journey of singing in renowned venues such as the Hollywood Bowl, Carnegie Hall, Jerusalem’s Southern Steps, the United States Capitol and many other extraordinary locations,” his website reads. “In each chapter Steve recounts how music has allowed him to lift his voice to be an encouragement to others while glorifying God.”

Amerson sang “Where Else Would A Lamb Be Born,” which tells the story of Jesus’ birth.

The chorus reads: “A bed of straw became a cradle / Embracing God in human form / One would expect more than a stable / But where else would a Lamb be born / But where else would a Lamb be born.”

“This is a song I co-wrote with my friend Lowell Alexander, and it’s kind of become a tradition to sing ‘Where Else Would A Lamb Be Born’ here on FOX & FRIENDS,” he said.

Amerson added that while COVID-19 halted performances over the past 18 months, he is excited to get back to his traveling schedule.

“For performers the past 18 months, two years have been very difficult,” Amerson said. “Things are picking up slowly. But this week I sang in Phoenix, Dallas, Charlotte and now I’m here. I’m traveling.”

Amerson is candid about his faith in God and noted that he first discovered his voice while singing next to his mother in church.

“My mom noticed when I was 4 years old that I could create a harmony part,” Amerson, 67, explained, joking: “I was standing next to her in church, and she looks down at me with this look, I thought I was in trouble. I thought I was gonna get a spanking.”

“It’s a gift and I’m trying to hone the gift and use a gift to the best of my ability,” he concluded.
