Kathryn Limbaugh Reflects on Husband’s Legacy: ‘It’s Never Going to Be Time to Give Up on Our Country’

The wife of radio host icon Rush Limbaugh, Kathryn, recently talked with Fox News’ Ainsley Earhardt one year after his death.

Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh has died of lung cancer, according to his wife, Kathryn.

“We, the Limbaugh family, are deeply saddened to announce that our beloved Rush has died,” according to Limbaugh’s official Facebook page.

Kathryn recalled her husband’s impact on the American people, a phrase he often repeated, saying he had “talent on loan from God.”

Aside from his successful radio career, Kathryn said that Rush held fast to his faith in God.

“He knew there was a much higher plan and much higher purpose. He believes strongly in his relationship with God,” Kathryn said. “Rush always said that this audience meant everything to him, and we want that to carry on and make sure that we continue our American values, that we continue to have pride for our symbols.”

Kathryn also remembered her husband’s proud patriotism and the hope he had in America as a country.

“He would be upset with the United States not being as strong as it has been and should be. I know he would say it’s not time to panic,” she said, quoting another phrase Rush repeated on his show: “It’s never time to panic. Folks it’s never, ever going to be time to give up on our country. It’ll never be time to give up on the United States. It’ll never be time to give up on yourself.”

Kathryn revealed that there are two benches by Rush’s grave in St. Louis.

“I happened to be sitting there when out of nowhere, a man gave me his rosary that he had brought there to give to Rush. In that time, I felt he’s still with us,” she said. “He’s living on through these people.”

The family of the conservative talk show host, who died last month after a battle with lung cancer at age 70, held his funeral on Mar. 3.

Kathryn Limbaugh talked to her late husband’s audience on the “The Rush Limbaugh Show” about the ceremony at the Bellefontaine Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri.

“It was just stunning, if you can imagine, looking forward through a winding road to see this beautiful carriage with grass in it and then flags around his gravesite. So as we approach the gravesite, you could see these beautiful American flags waving in the wind and the sun was shining through directly on that spot. It couldn’t have been more fitting,” Kathryn Limbaugh said.

She continued: “So Rush was escorted to his final resting place. We prayed around Rush and we also played some of his favorite music from ‘America The Beautiful’ by Ray Charles, and also a musical version of the ‘Irish Blessing,’ which we knew Rush also loved.”

Last October, Limbaugh expressed his own confidence in his salvation and joked about missing out on his funeral.

“I can’t believe I’m sitting here talking to her about my funeral,” Limbaugh said. “Sorry I’m gonna miss it.”

Despite Kathryn Limbaugh’s loss, she remains thankful for her family and the ability to grieve together.

“You know, I’m doing OK. Of course, it’s a very difficult time. But I really, truly feel we are all going through this process together. And it’s very much a process. And I think it helps us to all be together and grieve in a sense, and keep our Rush with us in that way,” she said.
