A HONEYMOON TO REMEMBER

"Some Love Isn’t Planned"

What You Need To Know:

A HONEYMOON TO REMEMBER is a romantic comedy airing on UPtv. An ambitious, controlling woman named Ava has her entire life planned out to the last detail. However, when her fiancé calls off their wedding, her plans are ruined. Ava and her supportive sister decide to go on the honeymoon trip without her fiancé, but things get more complicated at the resort. Ava meets an attractive man named Kyle, and her fiancé Brett shows up unexpectedly after Ava declines to answer his phone calls. Ava must decide which relationship is worth her time. Maybe finding true love is outside of Ava’s control?

A HONEYMOON TO REMEMBER has few redeeming qualities. Ava, who starts the movie as a control-freak, never changes and constantly blames other people for her circumstances. However, her sister is very supportive and has a healthy relationship with her own boyfriend. The other characters are one-dimensional, though, and no one really learns their lesson. In fact, some characters are even rewarded for their lack of compassion. A HONEYMOON TO REMEMBER also has frequent alcohol use. So, MOVIEGUIDE® advises caution for older children.

More Detail:

A HONEYMOON TO REMEMBER is a romantic comedy on UPtv about an ambitious, controlling woman who has her entire life planned out, but is faced with some difficult decisions after her fiancé calls off their wedding, ruining her plans. Except for some light moral, pro-family elements such as a supportive sister, A HONEYMOON TO REMEMBER has few redeeming qualities, one-dimensional characters and lots of alcohol use.

The movie begins with Ava talking about a possible proposal from her boyfriend, Brett. As she discusses the plans with her sister, it’s clear that Ava is a control freak. She has both of their lives planned out, from the proposal to the wedding to the names of their future children.

Although Brett hasn’t told Ava he’s proposing, Ava knows that their next date night will be THE night. Ava guesses correctly, and the couple gets engaged. However, when Ava is trying on her wedding dress that she bought years in advance, Brett barges in and says he can’t go through with the wedding. Ava doesn’t want to hear his explanation and is distraught.

Ava’s sister, Bonnie, encourages Ava to keep living life instead of wasting away in her room. Ava had planned her honeymoon, and it’s non-refundable. Ava and Bonnie decide to follow-through with the honeymoon trip themselves without her fiancé. However, everything at the resort reminds Ava of her broken relationship.

Bonnie encourages Ava to be social, and Ava meets an attractive man named Kyle. Although she has mixed feelings about dating right after losing her fiancé, she enjoys hanging out with Kyle. After going on a date with Kyle, Ava receives a call from Brett. She doesn’t answer, but the call makes her realize that Brett hasn’t moved on completely.

When Brett shows up to the resort to talk things through with Ava, she’s furious and refuses to talk to him. A confusing trip turns more confusing as Ava doesn’t know how to feel about Kyle or Brett. Bonnie says that Brett flying all the way to Ava is admirable and that she should hear his side of the story.

With her plans non-existent, Ava must decide which relationship is worth her time.

A HONEYMOON TO REMEMBER has few redeeming qualities. Aside from a supportive sister, who models the only healthy relationship in the movie with her boyfriend John, the other characters are one-dimensional. Ava, who starts the movie as a control-freak, never changes and constantly blames other people for her circumstances. While there are some light moral messages, no one really learns their lesson. Due to constant alcohol use, Movieguide® advises caution for viewers.
