Sony Bumps Release Dates For ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE And MADAME WEB

Fans of Spider-Man will have to wait a little while longer to see some of their favorite web slingers on the big screen again.
Sony recently revealed an updated version of their theatrical release calendar, and fans were dismayed to see that SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDERVERSE has been pushed back to the summer of 2023. It was originally supposed to hit theaters this fall.
ACROSS THE SPIDERVERSE isn’t the only Spider-Man movie to get a new release date.
SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDERVERSE PART II will now be hitting theaters in March of 2024.
Both SPIDERVERSE movies will follow the story of Miles Morales, a character audiences were introduced to in Movieguide® Award nominee SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDERVERSE.
MADAME WEB, starring Dakota Johnson, got a new release date as well; it will now be in theaters July 7, 2023.
The movie will tell the story of Madame Web, a clairvoyant who is linked to all the Spider-Men across the multiverse. Sydney Sweeney will also star in the movie, but her role is still unknown.
Sony’s calendar also revealed release dates for THE EQUALIZER 3, starring Denzel Washington, and animated movie LYLE, LYLE, CROCODILE.

SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE sequel will now be directed by trio Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson.
Sony Pictures Animation’s first SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE took home an Oscar win and was honored at the 2018 Movieguide® Awards as one of the Best Movies for Families.
Returning to the project are producers Phil Lord, Chris Miller, Amy Pascal, Avi Arad, and Christina Steinberg. The director of the first movie, Peter Ramsey, is back as executive producer alongside Aditya Sood.
“The crew behind the ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’ set such a ridiculously high bar, and we’re humbled to take on the challenge of charting the next chapter in the story of Miles Morales,” the team said in a statement.
Although Dos Santos and Thompson are making their directorial debut, both have worked on previous Sony Pictures Animation projects. Thompson previously worked on family-friendly movies like Sony Animation’s CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS and CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS 2.
