Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson praised God after he played in front of his family and friends in his Arizona hometown.

“Well, first off, you know, I gotta give honor to God. Without Him, we wouldn’t be here. I wouldn’t be here. He blessed me to be on this field and play in front of all these people, so I just gotta give honor to Jesus and what He’s done for me and my team and how He’s continued to let us come through,” Robinson told NFL ON FOX.

The Falcons beat the Arizona Cardinals 26-19 on Sunday.

“But for me, this is so special just because being back home and seeing everybody who I grew up with and all the friends and family that are out here is pretty special,” he continued. “Even when the game was over, you just heard them all chanting and cheering, so this is such a cool moment — not just for me but even for my teammates to experience where I’m from and all the people that came out to support. So it’s really cool.”

Robinson has almost completed his third NFL season this year. He grew up playing flag football and then transitioned into tackle football when he was old enough. Robinson always dreamed about playing in the NFL, and he wants to be a light for Christ within the league.

“For those interested in football (or any sport really), start by getting outside,” Robinson wrote on his website. “If you love it, never stop doing it because it’s just a joy to play. Football is the thing that’s helped me learn the most life lessons. You have coaches and father figures who give you so much advice. It teaches you that, despite having talent and showing your gifts on the field, it’s really off the field where you learn discipline. That’s where I became a leader and family man.”

“My faith is what drives me to overcome any obstacles. I’m a prayer leader on my team and I’ve done it at every single level,” he continued. “To have the opportunity to do it at the NFL level is special; there’s a respect you gain from your teammates and peers around you. I’m a firm believer that it works every time – faith is what pulls us through.

“My goal is to be a beacon of light in the sports community,” Robinson concluded. “I love representing people who might not have a lot but are still grateful for life – and people who might have a lot but are still grateful for life. When I run out of the tunnel onto the field, seeing the energy in Atlanta makes me want to play so much harder for the people in the stands because they’re just as invested in the game as I am. To be a big part of the culture here is something special.”

Robinson and the Falcons will take the field next Monday against the Los Angeles Rams. He looks to continue to produce for his team this year, all while bringing glory to God.
