THE UNBEARABLE WEIGHT OF MASSIVE TALENT is an action comedy starring Nicolas Cage as himself. Cage struggles to find work and has become estranged from his wife and daughter. For $1 million dollars, he agrees to attend the birthday party in Spain of a wealthy superfan named Javi. The two men become fast friends. However, the CIA captures Cage and asks him to spy on his new friend. They believe Javi leads a dangerous family drug cartel and that he’s kidnapped a foreign dignitary’s daughter. Cage must live up to his onscreen action persona to save himself and the ones he loves most.

THE UNBEARABLE WEIGHT OF MASSIVE TALENT is a humorous love letter to the history of cinema and Nicolas Cage’s odd but successful career. Cage is hilarious playing himself. However, the movie contains excessive foul language, alcohol and drug abuse, and a few crass jokes. THE UNBEARABLE WEIGHT OF MASSIVE TALENT has a satirical humanist worldview, but there are some moral, redemptive elements about choosing family over a career and sacrificing yourself for loved ones. THE UNBEARABLE WEIGHT OF MASSIVE TALENT is a comedy starring Nicolas Cage as a fictional version of himself.

Nick Cage struggles to find work in Hollywood but is still obsessed with everything movies and acting. Through nods to his past real-life movies, THE UNBEARABLE WEIGHT OF MASSIVE TALENT comically presents Nick Cage as having reached the end of a long career in Hollywood but unable to give it up.

Cage’s obsession with his career leads him to grow distant from his ex-wife, Olivia, and their daughter, Addy. Despite his efforts to show her his world of entertainment, his selfishness leads to further estrangement from his daughter.

After Cage hears news that he has failed to land yet another role, he accepts an offer from his agent to attend a birthday party for a wealthy superfan named Javi Gutierrez. Cage agrees to go because Javi offers him $1 million dollars to attend his party in Mallorca, Spain and read Javi’s script.

Cage arrives a few days before the party and realizes that how much of a superfan Javi is. Despite the genuine love Javi shows his guest, Cage still wallows in the fact that he’s reached the end of his career in acting.

However, after spending the next day with Javi, the two form a fast and loyal friendship. They talk through the night about cinema, and Cage finally agrees to read Javi’s script. That same night, the CIA captures Cage and sets him on a mission to spy on his new friend. They believe Javi is the head of a dangerous family drug cartel and that he’s kidnapped the daughter of a foreign dignitary.

Reluctantly, Cage agrees to help the CIA find the girl but doesn’t want to double-cross his new best friend. Insanity ensues as Cage finds himself in riskier and riskier situations. However, when Cage’s family becomes involved, he must live up to his past onscreen performances if he wants to save them and escape with his life.
