Rapper Diddy ‘Un-Canceling the Canceled’ At This Year’s Billboard Music Awards

By Movieguide® Staff

Billboard recently announced that Rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs would take on the role of host and executive producer for this year’s Billboard Music Awards, which aired on Sunday, May 15.

The 52-year-old artist made it known that he would use the platform to “un-cancel the canceled” in a hostile climate of cancel culture.

“The mood of the show is about love and forgiveness,” Combs told Billboard. “As a musical family, none of us are saints; none of us are without things that happen to them in life. So one of the things I’m doing directly is un-canceling the canceled. That’s breaking news, because people haven’t been about un-canceling. But canceling is a trend that needs to stop.”

“People make mistakes,” he added. “Now we’re moving on with love and respect for everybody that was hurt or affected. It’s time to forgive. To have Morgan [Wallen] and Travis [Scott] be able to come back and touch the stage again with the mindset of getting a second chance at life. Everybody in the room is getting a second chance at life, you know, because we’re back inside with no masks on. We need love and I’m excited about celebrating that.”

Combs is also the chairman of REVOLT, a faith-based multimedia platform. Movieguide® previously reported:

Bishop T.D. Jakes and rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs announced upcoming releases, including exclusive sermons for the black-owned multimedia platform REVOLT.

Jakes hopes that partnering with Combs will bring faith-related content to the global hip-hop community.

“This partnership is monumental for REVOLT, expanding into the faith space to create a program that will inspire millions around the world to have hope and walk in their power,” Combs, the chairman of REVOLT, said.

“Bishop Jakes is one of the most transformational leaders of our time who has made a profound impact on my life, so we’re honored for him to join the REVOLT family and use his gift to empower the culture,” he added.
