Kris Polaha Works to End Human Trafficking: ‘We’re Just Getting Millions of Dollars Every Year To Fight This’

Actor Kristoffer Polaha recently starred in JURASSIC WORLD: DOMINION and is known for uplifting movies like WHERE HOPE GROWS.

However, Polaha recently took a trip to the Cannes Film Festival in France for a smaller project called THE WORK OF ART.

Unlike his list of Hallmark movies or his roles in blockbuster movies, THE WORK OF ART tackled the subject of suicide and the beauty of life.

“I’m really excited about how it turned out. And again, that was all happy byproduct of the pandemic and the quarantine,” Kristoffer told TV Fanatic. “We took it from 23 minutes, all the way down to 17 lean, tight minutes, so beautiful.”

Outside the industry, Polaha is dedicated to helping those in need. Polaha recently talked about his role on the board of a grant tank called the Jensen Project.

“We are talking about human trafficking and the sex trade industry. And we’re trying to put caps on legalizing prostitution,” he said. “And it’s a really interesting conversation about abuse, about spousal abuse, about sex trafficking, about pornography, and women’s rights, frankly, and we’re helping women, and I say, we, there’s a board. A woman named Janet Jensen, made a lot of money in her lifetime and has dedicated her time to giving it away to grants.

“What the Jensen Project is doing is trying to highlight very small and grassroots organizations. But incredible things are being done. There’s this thing, an organization called The NOCSE, the National Outreach Center for Sexual Exploitation, I believe, that is pursuing places like Twitter and Google and Amazon.”

Polaha also discussed similar topics on his show, the Polaha Chautauqua.

“I dedicated April to sexual abuse awareness month. And I did three shows where women just came on and told their stories,” he said. “It’s amazing, the emotional and spiritual snares that come along with that kind of experience, where there’s shame, and there’s guilt, and you feel like it’s your fault, even years later. And how it transcends generations because these women become either ultra-protective of their kids or history possibly repeats itself.

“It’s real stuff, and Janet Jensen herself, the one that is in charge of the project, has an awful story, and she turned all that rage and shame into this really powerful foundation. And again, we’re just getting millions of dollars every year to fight this,” he added.

Polaha often uses his show to talk about his personal convictions.

Movieguide® previously reported:

The name, Chautauqua, is an Iroquois word that means ‘two moccasins tied together.’ But Polaha notes that the word’s meaning changed over the course of American history.

“The Chautauqua was a place to go and talk and a place to meet. It was almost like a truce and a safe place, to trade, to share ideas, to cross pollinate cultures, and to actually meet significant others,” he said. “I love the meaning. I loved sort of what it represented. It’s just become this place of about 200 people that join me live every week, and we talk about everything. We’ve talked about race. We’ve talked about sexual abuse. We’ve talked about the Christian narrative and kingdom living and what it means to have a life that’s bearing the fruits of the Holy Spirit and I’m doing it in a way that is not exclusive to just Christians.

“I’m a Christian and I believe in the Christian narrative, but a lot of my listeners and viewers may not,” he added. “I’m talking about it in a way that is saying, ‘Look at look, this is my POV. This is how I see the world. And when things happen to me, this is how I get through those things. And this is what it means to be in relationship with God. It’s something that is completely Holy Spirit driven.”
