FOX NEWS’ Ben Hall Celebrates 40th Birthday While Recovering From Injuries Sustained In Ukraine

By Movieguide® Contributor

FOX NEWS correspondent Benjamin Hall celebrated his 40th birthday, and had reason to be extra thankful for another year of life after the reporter sustained injuries while covering the war in Ukraine earlier this year.

Four months ago, Hall and two of his colleagues — a longtime Fox cameraman and a Ukrainian journalist — were caught in the crossfire while covering the story. Tragically, Hall was the only survivor.

The reporter is still recovering at the Brooke Army Medical Center in Texas, and is receiving lots of birthday well-wishes from friends and fans around the world.

FOX NEWS’ CEO Suzanne Scott and president and executive editor Jay Wallace visited Hall to hand-deliver a birthday card signed by everyone at the network.

“He looks incredible given everything he has endured, and he is truly an inspiration,” Scott told the FOX NEWS staff, adding that “his progress over the last four months has been nothing short of remarkable.”

Movieguide® previously reported on the death and injuries of the FOX NEWS crew:

Fox News cameraman and war correspondent photographer Pierre Zakrzewski died after his vehicle was hit by incoming fire in Horenka, Ukraine, on March 14.

Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott confirmed the news, noting that fellow Fox News journalist Benjamin Hall was injured in the attack and remained hospitalized.

“It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we share the news this morning regarding our beloved cameraman Pierre Zakrzewski,” Scott announced.

“Pierre was a war zone photographer who covered nearly every international story for FOX News from Iraq to Afghanistan to Syria during his long tenure with us,” she added. “His passion and talent as a journalist were unmatched. Based in London, Pierre had been working in Ukraine since February.

“His talents were vast and there wasn’t a role that he didn’t jump in to help with in the field — from photographer to engineer to editor to producer — and he did it all under immense pressure with tremendous skill,” Scott continued. “He was profoundly committed to telling the story and his bravery, professionalism and work ethic were renowned among journalists at every media outlet. He was wildly popular – everyone in the media industry who has covered a foreign story knew and respected Pierre.”

Scott called on Fox News media staff to pray for Zakrzewski’s family and the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

“We extend our deepest condolences to Pierre’s wife Michelle and family,” Scott wrote to Fox News Media staff. “Please keep them all in your prayers. And please continue to pray for Benjamin Hall.”
