Ex-Porn Star Encourages Parents to Protect Children from the ‘Dangers and Damages’ of Porn

Brittni De La Mora, an ex-porn turned Christian activist, and author, recently warned parents about how to defend children in an increasingly over sexualized culture, especially in media.
“If you don’t have these conversations with your children, then pornography is going to have these conversations with your children,” De La Mora said in a recent episode of her “Let’s Talk Purity” podcast.
De La Mora, who turned from her career in adult films after converting to Christianity and marrying a paster, Richard, began Love Always Ministries to “help people live on purpose by discovering God’s love and leading a life of purity.”
According to De La Mora, children are being exposed to pornography and shockingly young ages.
“It’s everywhere,” De La Mora said in an interview with Nick Liberto, the executive director of TheSexTalk.com.
“We want parents to get on the offense and to lean in with their kids so that they’re protected,” Liberto said. “So that porn doesn’t teach them, because that is a nightmare situation.”
Both Liberto and De La Mora encouraged parents to take up arms to defend their children in an age dominated by easily accessible media.
However, instead of simply calling out pornography for the sin that it is, Liberto said that it is essential to teach children about God’s design of the human body.
“Not addressing this issue is not working,” Liberto said. “All our world is talking about right now is sex and sexuality.”
“The things that children are being taught by pornography [are] just terrible,” Liberto added. “It’s all sort of twisting that which is good and that which is true. It’s not if your children will be exposed; it’s when.”
De La Mora and Liberto said there is hope in the fight against pornography’s attack on God’s design, with even secular legislators and organizations recognizing the intense harm that pornography has on people’s brains.
“Even the secular world is beginning to acknowledge the damage and the dangers of pornography, even if you don’t come at it from a faith lens,” Liberto said.

How is love portrayed?
The beauty of God’s love is wonderful, yet most movies portray lust as love. Love is giving, putting others before ourselves, and always fulfilling with the joy of giving. Lust is taking, demanding more and more, without any satisfaction.
Movies and other mass media of entertainment present lust as love with one night sexual relationships, tedious ordeals, endless battles, or perverted activity. This desecration of love should be an anathema to God’s people.
Many movies suggest, or even promote, the idea of sex with a child.
The most memorable and most profitable movies are usually carefully crafted character studies which portray love in a wholesome, biblical, uplifting, or light way, such as A QUIET PLACE, THE LEGO MOVIE 2: THE SECOND PART, HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON: THE HIDDEN WORLD, and PRIDE AND PREJUDICE.
When considering a love story compare its presentation with the Apostle Paul’s description of love in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 (NIV):
“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.”
This is the kind of love you want your children to experience in a marriage – not the kind centered on lust or satisfying your base instincts. When harder times come, many marriages built on the models presented in most movies and television shows fall apart.
God’s love is not a romance story. It never fails.
