Star Letitia Wright Discusses ‘Traumatic’ Onset Injury

With BLACK PANTHER: WAKANDA FOREVER set to hit theaters this weekend, star Letitia Wright is sharing more about her traumatizing injury on set.
The actress recently revealed she’s still processing an onset injury in therapy.
While filming a chase scene in Boston, the motorcycle Wright was riding hit the median, causing her to fall off. The actress sustained multiple injuries, including a fractured shoulder and a concussion.
“I’m still processing it,” Wright said of the accident. “I’m still working through it in therapy. It was really traumatic.”

Christian actress Letitia Wright was hospitalized after she was injured on the BLACK PANTHER sequel set.
“Letitia Wright sustained minor injuries today while filming a stunt for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. She is currently receiving care in a local hospital and is expected to be released soon,” a spokesperson for Marvel said Wednesday.
As of Thursday, she was released from the hospital.
Deadline reports that the incident occurred in Boston, though the movie is primarily shooting in Atlanta. Sources told Deadline that the incident was minor and will not impact the shooting schedule.
Despite her injuries, Wright was ready to resume filming soon after the accident.
“I just remember wanting to finish my film, man,” Wright shared. “I think that was one of the first things I said to Ryan [Coogler, the movie’s director]. And he was like, ‘Tish, you need to recover.’”
She continued, “I had great, great, great medical support, great patience on set. I’m just extremely proud of myself. I’m extremely proud of Ryan, of the team, for just the resilience — overcoming adversities every step of the way. When I finished filming, I cried like a little baby.”
Following her accident and during her recovery, Wright asked fans to pray for her. She is very open about her Christian faith. Movieguide® previously reported:
Hollywood actress Letitia Wright, best known for her role as Princess Shuri in Marvel’s BLACK PANTHER, is candid about her faith and how she rests in the comfort of trusting God.
“Worrying will kill you, man,” Wright told W Magazine. “It will…Eat. You. Up. But in the Bible, Jesus is basically like, ‘Chill out, guys.’ If you gracefully trust that everything is going to be okay, you start to feel lighter. You’ve just got to let go and let God.”
However, for Wright, she knows that the process of trusting God means active participation on her part.
“I’m still considered a baby Christian,” Wright, who started attending church three years ago, said. “I have to learn my Word. For as long as I can remember, I knew something about my life was meant to be meaningful, that I’ve got something to do here. I don’t know how I knew, but I was sure I’d make an impact.”
By 18, Wright had already landed roles in popular British television shows. However, as her career began to take off, Wright said it did not provide her with the bliss of success she originally wanted.
“I was depressed and full of anxiety,” Wright said. “I think it was that pressure to be accepted, to be somebody. When you’re looking outside of yourself for happiness and validation, a mean comment on social media can wreck you. I was okay when I was on set, hiding behind my work, but when I wasn’t acting I was full of fear and doubt, trying to fill this void inside of me any way I could: drinking, smoking. It was bad.”
However, Wright found the answer to her anxiety in God and even thought about giving up acting entirely to avoid having to portray immoral content on-screen.
“When I first became a Christian, I said, ‘I’m never acting again. I’m done,’” Wright remembered. “[But] God was speaking to me and said, ‘This is your talent, it’s what you’re meant to do.’”
Wright said one key component to upholding her faith in God while pursuing her acting career was learning to say no.
“For me, anything I attach myself to needs to have a purpose. And if it feels like a red light in any way, I don’t do it,” Wright said.
While Wright is a strong Christian, WAKANDA FOREVER contains several problematic, excessive worldview problems.

BLACK PANTHER: WAKANDA FOREVER is well-produced and eventually promotes mercy and rejects revenge. However, the heroes and villains are not that interesting. Also, the movie has a pagan worldview promoting Non-Christian gods and ancestor worship. It also has an Afro-centric, leftist ideology that whitewashes African and Mayan civilizations and demonizes Christians and Non-African “colonizers,” including the United States. In reality, however, Africa had slavery before the United States. So also did Mayan Civilization. Also, Britain ended the African slave trade and slavery, as did the United States. The paganism, identity politics and revisionist history in BLACK PANTHER: WAKANDA FOREVER are abhorrent.
