Will Jeremy Renner Return to the MCU?
By Movieguide® Contributor
Jeremy Renner spent the past six months on the road to recovery after a snowplow accident.
Renner hasn’t secured any roles, but he isn’t ready to hand in the towel on his acting career.
Despite the traumatic event and the damage his body endured, Jeremy Renner announced his return as Hawkeye.
Renner attended the Phoenix Fan Fusion event and when asked about his future as an avenger, Renner quickly said, “If Marvel wants me back, I’ll do it in a heartbeat.”
Movieguide® recently reported on Renner’s accident and his recovery:
Jeremy Renner will detail his January 1 snowplow accident with Diane Sawyer, along with the speedy recovery that has allowed the actor to bounce back faster than expected, in his first interview since the incident.
Renner was injured on January 1 while clearing snowfall from his Nevada property. After exiting from his snowplow, the vehicle began to slide, heading straight for his adult nephew. In an effort to slow down or stop the snowplow, Renner attempted to step on the track but was pulled under the vehicle instead and was fully run over.
During the interview, Renner recalls not only the pain of being run over but also being “awake for every moment” of the accident.
The actor was immediately rushed to the hospital, arriving in stable but critical condition, with 30 broken bones and blunt chest trauma. Yet he was discharged only two weeks later, already on the road to a quick recovery.
The interview will look at the methods Renner is using as he continues to recover, including an anti-gravity treadmill and electric stimulation workouts.
Sawyer’s piece will also return to the scene of the accident, with interviews of family members as well as the first responders who aided Renner amidst difficult weather conditions.
“I just perfectly see him in a pool of blood coming from his head,” Renner’s nephew says in the trailer for the upcoming interview. “I ran up to him. I didn’t think he was alive.”
