DUDE DAD Taylor Calmus Shares Joy of Daughters: ‘She’s Shown Me the World’

By Movieguide® Contributor

DUDE DAD host Taylor Calmus recently reflected on the difference between sons and daughters, revealing his sweet bond with his daughter.

He begins the video by explaining how a good friend of his recently found out he is going to have a daughter after having sons, and he’s terrified.

“Not all new dads go through this. Some of them are totally comfortable with daughters and that’s great. Others are not and that’s also okay. It doesn’t mean they’re a bad dad. It doesn’t mean they won’t love their kid. It just means they don’t know what to expect,” Calmus said.

After empathizing with dads who are new to the world of girls, he explains how comfortable it has been for him to be a boy dad.

“We had a son first, and that was easy because as his dad, I just get to show him life from one guy to another,” he shared. “We’ll ride bikes and snowboard and go on adventures. I know that world I’m comfortable in it and I’m confident in it.”

Calmus then explained how foreign the world of raising girls is and how many dads are intimidated at the thought.

“Once you finally have that little girl everything changes,” he explained through tears in his eyes.

“As a dad having a daughter expands you in the best possible way,” Calmus continued. “This whole time I thought that I needed to show her the world, but the reality is she’s shown me the world, and I’ll tell you right now the world is so much more fun through her eyes.”

“She is compassionate and thoughtful and encouraging, and all of those cliché boy things that I wanted to do with my kids, she’s the first one to raise her hand and be like ‘I want to try that’ every single time. She is my sidekick and will go everywhere with me no matter how boring the errand sounds,” he added.

“My wish for her is that she will always keep her wild spirit and her innocent heart so that as her father I can continue to learn from her. And that is why having a daughter is the best thing ever,” he concluded.

Movieguide® previously reported on Calmus:

Magnolia Network breakout star Taylor Calmus uses his new show to teach fathers how to build structures and memories to enchant their children.

“I think that our duty as fathers is to create the adventures for our kids,” the SUPER DAD star says. “Kids go through this crazy process of developing mentally and emotionally and physically, and they really learn the most from just play. That’s literally their job as kids, it’s just to play, and us as dads. we have very playful souls, so I really feel like it’s kind of our place and our duty to create the adventure for our kids.”
