Matt Damon, Ben Affleck Offered to Pay Jimmy Kimmel’s Staff Amid Strikes

On the first episode of the “Strike Force Five” podcast, Jimmy Kimmel revealed that actors Ben Affleck and Matt Damon offered to pay his staff during the writers’ and actors’ strikes.
“Ben Affleck and the despicable Matt Damon contacted me and offered to pay our staff for two weeks,” Kimmel said, referencing the phony feud he shares with Damon. “A week each, they wanted to pay out of their own pockets our staff.”
While Kimmel appreciated the extremely generous offer, the late-night host decided to turn it down, not wanting the actors to shoulder the costs of the studios’ unwillingness to make a deal.
“I did say no, but I felt that that was not their responsibility,” he said.
“They’re good people,” Jimmy Fallon said.
“Could [their offer] be transferable,” Meyers joked after Kimmel revealed he turned down the offer.
“Could you just say yes and then give your money to us?” Colbert followed up.
“Strike Force Five” is a limited series podcast that the late-night hosts started during the WGA strike. Kimmel runs the show alongside Fallon, Stephen Colbert, Seth Meyers and John Oliver.
“All proceeds received by the hosts from Strike Force Five will go to out-of-work staff from the hosts’ respective shows, including THE LATE SHOW WITH STEPHEN COLBERT, THE TONIGHT SHOW STARRING JIMMY FALLON, JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE, LATE NIGHT WITH SETH MEYERS AND LAST WEEK TONIGHT WITH JOHN OLIVER,” Spotify announced.
The podcast launched August 30, and the talk show hosts plan to record at least 12 episodes.
