Chip and Joanna Gaines Reveal Their ‘Most Complicated’ Project Yet

By Movieguide® Contributor

FIXER UPPER’s Chip and Joanna Gaines faced their most ambitious restoration ever when they took on an entire boutique hotel in downtown Waco, Texas.

“[This is] the largest, most complicated size project we’re ever done in our whole career,” Chip said, explaining that the goal was to “bring this building back to its former glory.”

Beyond the massive scope of the project, the couple also had to face the pressure of working on a building that is listed on the National Registry of Historical Places.

“If anybody can turn this place into the masterpiece that it deserves, it’s Joanna Gaines,” Chip said in a trailer for FIXER UPPER: THE HOTEL.

The couple brought life back into the 100-year-old hotel, transforming it into a three-floor, 53,000-square-foot dream with 33 guest rooms, two restaurants, and their “crown jewel” – a luxurious library.

“For us, this project represents everything we are most passionate about—hospitality, restoration, and home,” said Chip and Joanna. “We’ve always been firm believers in the value of home, as a place but also as a feeling. Our dream for this hotel is that it would serve as an extension of home to every guest who comes to stay.”

Fans can watch the entire transformation take place on FIXER UPPER: THE HOTEL. The new series will launch on the Magnolia Network on November 8, as new episodes drop every Wednesday with same-day streaming on Max and Discovery+.

Movieguide® previously reported:

Along with their five-season run of the hit renovation show FIXER UPPER, Chip and Joanna Gaines have established their Magnolia brand as a staple of Waco, Texas.

Although their unique interior design is easily recognizable, their faith and family values have helped the Gaines build a loyal fanbase that continues to grow. Despite ending their show FIXER UPPER in 2017, the Gaines announced a new network under their Magnolia brand and penned a deal with Discovery Channel’s new streaming platform Discovery+.

“TV shows impact the culture, but Chip and Jo impact people’s lives,” Discovery Inc. CEO David Zaslav told The Hollywood Reporter. “They provide something very rare in America today: a sunshiny hopefulness that you can make things with your own two hands and your life will be better for it.”
