Jenny Marrs Encourages Pursuing God’s Plan Even When Others Oppose You

By Movieguide® Contributor

HGTV star Jenny Marrs is encouraging her followers to pursue what God has called them to and find friends to walk through life with.

“As I checked my weather app for 1,000th time today to check in on the latest snow storm prediction, I happened upon this old photo of the farm blanketed in white, and my old words about one of my favorite, often overlooked verses of the Bible: 1 Samuel 10:27. Hopefully, this can be an encouragement for someone today,” Marrs wrote along with a photo of a snowy farm.

1 Samuel 10:27 reads, “But there were some wicked men who complained, ‘How can this man save us?’ And they despised him and refused to bring him gifts. But Saul ignored them.”

Marrs continued to write, “See why it’s often overlooked? ☺️ Not exactly cheery or encouraging. BUT, when you look closer, I think we all need to be more like Saul. My notes say: Don’t spend valuable time and energy worrying about those who may oppose you.”

“What an encouragement,” she continued. “We may feel dismayed when someone says hurtful things or excludes us or tries to stop whatever God has set in motion for our lives…but, we can accept permission from Saul to simply IGNORE THEM.”

Marrs then challenged followers to look at the verse before. 1 Samuel 10:26 says, “When Saul returned home…a band of men whose hearts had been touched by God became his constant companions.”

“God will touch hearts to bring a band of friends to surround us,” Marrs concluded. “He will bring in people who will be constant – steady- even when we feel overwhelmed or dejected. So, let’s take a minute to acknowledge our own ‘band of constant companions’ this morning. Let’s be grateful for the ones who encourage and love us and stand beside us, and, simply ignore the rest.”

Part of Marrs’ “band of friends” includes a few fellow adoptive moms whom she sees each year.

“Each year, we prioritize this weekend together. It is time set aside for laughter and tears and reminiscing and yummy food and sleeping in and long walks and reflecting on God’s goodness and being vulnerable with our fears and our dreams,” she said of their time. “The weekend was holy and sacred and hilarious and just so much fun. These friendships are great, great treasures that I am deeply grateful for.”

Marrs frequently uses her platform to encourage others in their relationship with God. Movieguide® previously reported:

On Monday, Jenny Marrs shared a video of her family moving their sheep in order to give their “overworked pasture a little time to rest and heal…’”

As she considered the sheep’s stubbornness, she realized, “Sometimes, I can be just as stubborn when God gently calls me to a new pasture. Because I only see the road ahead as new and scary and would rather stay put in my old, worn out pasture because it’s comfortable and safe.”

Like her sheep who kept jumping out of the trailer, Marrs has trouble trusting in her Shepherd, “who can see far beyond [her] current sight line and knows all the abundance and goodness ahead.”

“If you’re facing the move to a new pasture today, take a deep breath. Trust and take one step forward. Then the next,” she encouraged her fans.

“Embrace the call to run through the gate toward His voice with courage fueled by simple, honest trust. Trust rooted in the knowledge of His abundantly lavish love,” she concluded.
