INSIDE OUT 2 Continues to Smash Box Office Records

INSIDE OUT 2 continues to draw people of all ages to the box office.

The Disney/Pixar film made $22.2 million on June 17, the Monday after opening weekend. This is second only to 2018’s THE INCREDIBLES 2, which made $26.3 million.

According to the Movieguide® review:

INSIDE OUT 2 is a marvelous, family-friendly animated movie. The movie is delightful, funny, inventive, and heartwarming. It has many positive messages. For example, it promotes doing the right thing, controlling your emotions and not letting anxieties overcome your decision making. INSIDE OUT 2 also promotes kindness, friendship, repentance, and forgiveness. MOVIEGUIDE® advises caution for younger children for scenes of peril and a large scary-looking but nonthreatening character. Unlike other recent animated movies, INSIDE OUT 2 doesn’t have any woke or politically correct content.

In less than a week since its debut, the sequel to the Teddy Bear® nominated movie has already made $200 million. Following this trajectory, INSIDE OUT 2 is expected to make at least $70 million in its sophomore week.

“It’s so refreshing–but not surprising–to see that Pixar and Disney listened to Movieguide® and created a project that showcases positive, biblical values,” says Movieguide® CEO Robby Baehr. “We’ve told them for years that including inspirational content will make them money. They missed the mark with LIGHTYEAR and STRANGE NEW WORLD, and it cost them dearly. Now, when they return to Movieguide®’s strategy, they’re back to breaking records.”

Part of INSIDE OUT 2’s success is its appeal to families at large — parents, teenagers and children.

Disney would do well to remember this as they create their future content for theatrical and streaming.
