Country Star Pauses Concert to Help Cancer Survivor
By Movieguide® Contributor
Country singer Jelly Roll stopped one of his concerts in July to help a committed fan who was attending the show while battling the effects of cancer.
The fan first came to the singer’s attention when he noticed an IV drip in the crowd.
“There’s a young lady right here in the front row,” Jelly Roll said. “I’ve seen a lot of crazy [stuff] at my shows. But this young lady is out here with a full-blown IV.”
When the woman told Jelly Roll that she was a cancer survivor, he jumped into action to make his show more enjoyable for her.
“Let’s get her a chair somewhere,” Jelly Roll told his crew from onstage. “Somebody on my team, let’s get her somewhere comfortable to watch the rest of the show; we’ll get you off your feet, baby, okay?”
Clips of this moment have since been shared across social media, where Jelly Roll’s fans are praising him for his kindness.
“[Jelly Roll is] the epitome of HUMBLE AND KIND!” one user wrote on TikTok, adding he is “the kind of [person] that deserve all the good [he] has.”
“I swear this man tops everything good he has done,” another fan added. “Keep it up beast. Stay humble.”
This act of kindness is one example of many that highlight Jelly Roll’s heart. The singer has a troubled background filled with violence, drug addiction and jail time. However, a conversion to faith changed his life, and now Jelly Roll is living out the Gospel as he rises to new heights through his country music career.
With the experiences his past life gave him, Jelly Roll is able to speak and connect with millions of people who otherwise might not be reached. He also uses his platform to combat evil such as testifying before Congress about the fentanyl crisis and creating a music studio inside of a juvenile detention center.
Amidst his success, Jelly Roll is also making time for his family and is forever grateful that his life turned around so he could enjoy things like the birth of his daughter.

Country singer Jelly Roll recently compared the birth of his daughter to the conversion of Paul on the road to Damascus.
“I was incarcerated as a juvenile for some horrible decisions and I ended up in kind of that rotating door of the system for like a decade,” he shared during an episode of JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE. “I had a daughter, and it changed my entire life, man. It was almost like the Damascus Road experience where Saul turned to Paul for me.”
He continued, “I was incarcerated, and they knocked on my door and told me she was born. And I just wept. It’s the first time I’d cried, and I can’t quit crying now. Now I cry if I just see a squirrel in the street. I’m like, ‘The little squirrel!’ Spent 30 years not crying, and now I can’t stop.”
Jelly Roll has spoken about his time in prison, saying it was there that he started writing music.
