Donnie Wahlberg hopes that he’ll go to heaven someday.
“Phew…Why am I going to heaven? I pray that I am,” he said on a recent episode of “The George Janko Show.” “I hope that I am, but I would only say because Jesus Christ is my Lord and savior, and it’s by His grace.”
Janko asked the actor whether he could confidently look him in the eye and tell him he’s going to heaven, and Wahlberg did.
Janko said, “I used to walk around the neighborhood sobbing my eyes out because I read a Bible verse that scared me so much. He says that ‘Many will come in my name’…’depart from me, I never knew you.” …I sobbed to God.’”
Janko told Him that if he died that day, he’s one of those people.
“I was weighing my works in front of him,” Janko said. “I was saying ‘Yeah, but I’m good here. Look how I treat my wife. Look at this…’”

He knew he had to measure his life on Jesus’ works — not his own.
“People in this industry are broken. I’m realizing that in this last year,” Wahlberg said. “I’m broken, too.”
“I’ve been on and off like really wanting to commit my life to Jesus,” he explained. “And then I would do it…but I didn’t have the resources.”
Though his life looked perfect, he felt empty.
“I was empty without Him and I was existing without Him and trying to glorify him at times,” he said.
Then last year, he knew he had to make a change.
Wahlberg told his wife, Jenny McCarthy, “‘I have to connect with Jesus. I have to give my life to him now.’ She responded: ‘Of course.’ Once I could talk to my wife about it, I knew there was no turning back.”
Now, he and his wife regularly have Bible studies together.
McCarthy says it was after Charlie Kirk’s death that she and her husband became more devout.
“Look at how many people came closer to God, even including myself. I’ve always been a follower of Christ, but when he passed, I completely surrendered. I am so devoted,” McCarthy said.
She said of the tragedy, “I was so broken — when he was shot, I prayed, and prayed, and prayed. And then I was calling, like, every doctor I possibly could, saying, ‘Tell me that this wound is something that could be healed,’ and, you know, I kind of knew it wasn’t. It was such a dark day.”
It’s wonderful that these stars have turned their lives around. Hopefully they continue to put God first.
