NBCUniversal to Celebrate Massive Slate of Content at Upfront Presentation

NBCUniversal will reflect on its wins and look ahead during its Monday, May 12, upfront presentation at Radio City Music Hall.

Additionally, Telemundo’s evening celebration will shift to Tuesday instead of Monday as Amazon snagged its Monday night slot.

According to The Wrap, NBCUniversal’s upfront presentation will “highlight the company’s slate of scripted, unscripted, news, sports and live event content, with specific programming around Super Bowl LX, the NBA and WNBA, the FIFA World Cup, the Olympic and Paralympic games, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, BravoCon and more,” which the company’s ad sales chairman Mark Marshall called “the greatest collection of content that has ever been assembled by one media company.”

NBCUniversal believes this abundance of content secures engagement, “increasingly the most valuable consumer resource, with everyone on their phones while watching TV, gaming while scrolling social media and shopping while streaming,” The Hollywood Reporter explained.

In a letter to clients and partners, Marshall explained that “The average consumer today is spending over 13 hours with media per day, and the majority of that is across multiple screens at once.”

He added that they partake in broadcast, cable and streaming and watch “in their living room, while on their phone…while shopping…or gaming…or scrolling,” making connecting with them “today’s version of a moonshot.”

“As targeting becomes table stakes, what drives real results for your brand is engagement — deep and meaningful engagement seamlessly integrated into an authentic and impactful environment for your ads,” he explained. “There is no environment that can provide that kind of reach…that kind of scale… and that kind of engagement in English and Spanish than NBCUniversal.”

Ultimately, Marshall believes that the upfront presentations are still important and that “content matters more today than any other point in our history.”
