Mommy influencer and comedian Lindsey Gurk took to Instagram to share a very interesting fact she learned that relates to the Bible.
“Would you like to learn what I just learned today? What I just learned on this very same day?” she began.
“The blood of lamb, sheep’s blood, is the anti-venom for a poisonous snake bite! Are you feeling this? How come I didn’t know this?” she exclaimed as she danced around.
She then mentioned Genesis 3:14, which says “So the LORD God said to the serpent, ‘Because you have done this, cursed are you above all the livestock and all the wild animals! You will crawl on your belly, and you will dust all the days of your life.'”
Gurk continued, “Not only that, venom from the snake is inserted into the sheep because they make antibodies. They’re able to withstand it. And then, and then we take that, we give it to people who have been poisoned by the snakes.”
She referenced Luke 22:19 where Jesus says during the Last Supper, “This is my body given for you.”
“‘My body and my blood shall be given up for you.’ With the lamb’s body and its blood, we can then conquer the snake’s bike,” she exclaimed.
“Sorry if I’m coming across aggressive, but I’m amped. This is reason to get amped. It’s reason to get amped, folks,” she said as she used her shoe as a pretend microphone.
She added “And it’s not all snakes. I understand that, but it is some snakes, and in God’s creation, He made this possible so that we may know Him better.”
“Just blew my mind,” she said.
People in the comment section shared excitement over the cool fact. “Yes it’s so amazing. Learned it a long time ago. So good,” one follower said. Another person added, “STOP, I had NO idea and this is why the Bible is legit LIVING AND ACTIVE 🙌🏼”
There is truth to what Gurk shares.
The World Health organization explains that antivenoms “are made by immunizing donor animals such as horses or sheep with snake venoms. These animals have robust immune systems and produce powerful antibodies that can bind to snake venom components, enabling our own immune defenses to eliminate these toxins.”
God is in the details of life, and His truth is woven throughout the fabric of creation. Romans 1:20 says, “For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities — his eternal power and divine nature — have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.”
Truths such as the one Gurk shared are a reminder of how deeply God loves, cares for and is involved in His creation.
