Jenny Marrs and her family are dealing with the unexpected loss of one of their farm animals.
“I found our sweet Mary in the pasture,” the HGTV star shared on her Instagram story, via TV Insider, along with a photo of the Marrs family’s flock of sheep. “We lost her unexpectedly. I was just out with the animals last night and everyone seemed healthy.”
Marrs explained her husband Dave “had already left for work so I went to call our neighbor through my tears to ask her for help burying her so the kids wouldn’t find her after school. I stopped myself just before I hit the call button remembering our neighbor is with Jesus now.”
“I have cried buckets of tears the past two weeks, and the rain outside today reflects how I’m feeling inside,” she concluded. “When you watch Season 7 [of FIXER TO FABULOUS] and my eyes are perpetually puffy, you’ll know why. My heart is aching so deeply right now.”
Marrs shared more of her thoughts on grief in an Instagram post earlier this month, telling followers that she almost canceled a party celebrating her 20th anniversary because of the loss of a loved one.
“The thing about grief is it’s tricky,” she wrote. “You can be so very sad and miss someone so deeply and you can also make room for joy and celebration. This morning, I’m holding all of it and praising the One who made sure that a boy in Colorado would meet a girl in Florida and that they would go on to build an abundant life together in Arkansas.”
The Marrses are currently hard at work on the seventh season of FIXER TO FABULOUS, as well as gearing up for their annual blueberry harvest on their Bentonville farm. Typically, the farm has opened for one day to allow visitors to come pick their own berries, but the couple are changing things up this year.
“This summer, we are simplifying things and returning to a low-key, family-friendly U-Pick season at the farm. This will give more families an opportunity to visit and enjoy this special place and be a part of the mission of our farm,” the Marrses wrote in an Instagram post.
The profits from the berry farm go to Help One Now, an organization that helps orphans in Zimbabwe.
The family is still dealing with this unexpected loss, but Marrs’ reflections on finding joy in grief are surely helping them through this hard time.
