Why Ashley Tisdale Won’t Let Her Kids Act Just Yet

HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL star Ashley Tisdale shared about her role in PHINEAS AND FERB, which she’s been playing for 20 years.

“I mean, it’s a dream job,” Tisdale explained of playing Candace on PHINEAS AND FERB, which is getting a long-awaited new season on June 5.

Candace “is pretty intense, but, you know, I don’t read my scripts before I go in…I do want it to be fresh, but when I first started playing her, I was, you know, on a TV show. I was on a movie and…I was in concert,” she explained on GOOD MORNING AMERICA last week.

Tisdale never really had time to prepare for the role, but somehow, it just worked.

“It’s so easy, and it’s just fun for me, and she’s really limitless,” Tisdale explained.

This season was the first time Tisdale recorded as a mom of two.

“Not only as a mom, I was pregnant, like, recording this season,” the Disney star said. “That was really hard. It was hard because I was just like, I hope this baby in here does not think I’m crazy.”

Her character, Candace, is known for her bossy demeanor and barking out all of her words.

“I was like, uh, I’m going to play a character. I’m going to be screaming a lot But yeah, I was constantly sick, too, because my 4-year-old brings home everything,” she said.

Her daughter, Jupiter, is still trying to connect the dots that her mom is Candace.

“I think you know she gets that what I do to some degree,” she said.

“She has become a fan [of HIGHSCHOOL MUSICAL]. My niece played me in the play for her school. So, when she saw my niece do it, then she had to watch the movies and she’s become a little obsessed with it for sure,” Tisdale said.

Tisdale has acted since she was 3, but she wants her kids to have a “normal” childhood.

“My husband’s in music as well. She’s gonna do something, I think, at some capacity, but like when she’s older,” she said. “Just let her have a childhood…I just wanted to be a kid.”

The first two episodes of PHINEAS AND FERB Season 5 premiere on Disney+ on June 5, at 12 a.m. PT. Episode 1, “Summer Block Buster,” features Phineas and Ferb’s fun party with special attractions. Episode 2, “Cloudy with a Chance of Mom,” sees Mom falling under the influence of Dr. Doofenshmirtz’s latest invention, leaving the kids to rescue her, Superhero Hype reported.

Phineas and Ferb’s last appearance was in 2020’s PHINEAS AND FERB THE MOVIE: CANDACE AGAINST THE UNIVERSE. Part of Movieguide®’s review reads, “The movie also has a strong moral worldview promoting family, friendship, repentance, love, and forgiveness. In the beginning, Candace believes the universe is against her, but she finds out that things will work out if she and her brothers stick together. CANDACE AGAINST THE UNIVERSE has a great ending that’s both sweet and funny.”
