Though Carlos PenaVega had everything by the world’s standard, he found that life empty and did not get any fulfillment until he came to Christ.

“I just had all these dreams, aspirations of, you know, doing big things, being in movies and making music. As a kid, I had friends. I definitely wasn’t in the cool crowd, but I believed that if I got that, then all my problems were going to be solved,” PenaVega told Streams.Studio. “That I was going to be in the cool crowd, that I was going to have tons of friends, that everyone was gonna come. The light was gonna be on me and everyone was gonna, just, be my friend.”

“When I started finding success in my career, I felt that I was even lonelier than before because the people that were attracted to me weren’t actually the ones that were really filling my life, like, filling my life with good things,” he continued.

This caused him to spiral into a season of depression even though, on the outside, life was good. He was on a popular TV show, making music and had money in the bank. However, he had also turned to drinking and drugs because of the emptiness he felt in his life.

After years of living like this, PenaVega had enough and reached out to an acquaintance who he remembered always had a smile on his face.

“I said, ‘Hey, Andrew, why are you so happy?’ I just asked him. And he turned around. He was like, ‘Oh, I got Jesus in my life.’ And before he could finish ‘Jesus,’ I hung up the phone. I was like, ‘I don’t need to hear that,’” PenaVega recalled. “And a couple more days go by and I call him and say, ‘Okay, I’m sorry I hung up. Tell me more.’ He says, ‘You know, Jesus…’ I was kind of hesitant, but I said, ‘Right, well, what do I do?’ And he goes, ‘Well, maybe just come to church with me on Sunday.’”

The decision to go to that church service changed PenaVega’s life forever as the sermon the pastor taught spoke directly to the situation he was in. Though that season of his life was extremely difficult, PenaVega does not regret it because it shaped him into who he is today.

“I have no regrets because I may make some dumb choices in my life, but all of them led to who I am today. And I’m actually really happy with who I’ve become so far and who I’m becoming,” he previously said. “I actually don’t see them as regrets. I see them as not… the wisest choices.”

PenaVega’s story is an amazing testimony to how God can use anyone and everyone who is willing to give up their sinful ways and live their life to glorify Him.
