Netflix just gave viewers a first look at clean comedian Leanne Morgan’s upcoming sitcom, LEANNE, with a new trailer!
“Leanne’s life takes an unexpected turn when Bill, her husband of 33 years (played by TWO AND A HALF MEN’s Ryan Stiles) leaves her for another woman,” a description of the show reads. “Starting over when you’re a grandmother and in menopause isn’t exactly what she had in mind, but with the help of her family, she will navigate this new chapter with grace, dignity and jello salad.”
In the recently released trailer, we get a glimpse of the LEANNE’s cast, including Kristen Johnston, Blake Clark, Celia Weston, Graham Rogers, Hannan Pilkes, Tim Daly, Jayma Mays, Annie Gonzalez and Blake Gibbons.
“This is something I’ve dreamed of since I was a little girl, and it was just as exciting as I imagined,” Morgan told Tudum about creating the show. “Learning a new medium was definitely a challenge — memorizing new scripts every week was totally new for me — but I loved it. As a stand-up, the comedic timing felt natural, and filming in front of a live audience was especially comfortable. By the end of the season, it really felt like home.”
She shared that her character “uses humor to cope” with her new life situation, adding, “Sometimes you just have to laugh to keep from crying. She leans on her support system — her family, close friends and church community — to get through it.”
LEANNE was co-created by THE BIG BANG THEORY’s Chuck Lorre, and Morgan recently revealed that he took some inspiration from her own life to create components of the character she plays.

“When he came to my home in Knoxville to learn more about me and my family for inspiration for the show I had to pinch myself,” she told PEOPLE. “To make my very first television series with a titan of the industry taught me something new every day and I’m so honored to work with him.”
Morgan added, “The show isn’t based on my life — I’m still happily married to my Chuck Morgan! — but it is inspired by it,” she explains. “I’m excited to share more about myself and where I come from with viewers, and I can’t wait for y’all to see the incredible cast they’ve paired me with.”
LEANNE will premiere on Netflix July 31, with all 16 episodes available to stream. Fans of Morgan’s comedy can’t wait!
