From highly-anticipated sequels to new theme park attractions, Disney’s flurry of exciting announcements at the annual D23 expo delighted fans.
“The reveals began immediately, with the title and release date of the next big screen ICE AGE adventure announced. ICE AGE: BOILING POINT, in theaters February 5, 2027,” a press release from Disney announced.
That’s not the only animated sequel coming up — Disney also announced ZOOTOPIA 2’s November release date, as well as some updates on TOY STORY 5, which is due next summer.
“I can tell you that it’s a lot about Jessie,” Tim Allen, who voices Buzz Lightyear in the franchise, said in an interview with WIVB. “Tom [Hanks] and I do — Woody and I — do realign. And there’s an unbelievable opening scene with Buzz Lightyears. I can give you that, but I can’t give you much more.”

THE INCREDIBLES 3 and COCO 2 are also on the way, with both slated for a 2028 premiere.
Disney also announced a new original movie HEXED, set to premiere next year. A synopsis of the movie reads, “An awkward teenage boy and his Type-A mom discover that what makes him unusual, might just be magical powers that will turn their lives and a secret world of magic, upside down.”
There are plenty of exciting Marvel and Star Wars projects in the pipeline, too. AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY will premiere Dec. 18, 2026, while THE MANDALORIAN AND GROGU is due out next spring.
“I think we go to the storytelling originally that we loved with Mando,” MANDALORIAN actor Brendan Wayne shared. “We’re with the kid and Mando quite a bit, and their journey is [at the] forefront.”
DOOMSDAY will see many Marvel superheroes joining in on the action, including the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, the X-Men and more!
Disney also announced some new developments to their theme parks, including a Villains-themed land in Walt Disney World.
Josh D’Amaro, chairman of Disney’s theme parks and experiences division, said of the project, “Since the beginning, our Disney villains have given us endless possibilities to tell new stories. In this new land, you’ll see storytelling on a grand scale that only Disney can deliver.”
Meanwhile, Disneyland Paris’ “World of Frozen” area is set to open spring of 2026, and Disney World’s Cinderella Castle is getting an update inspired by the “classic and original look of the castle,” per IGN.
Exciting new projects, eagerly-anticipated sequels and new theme park attractions — it looks like Disney fans have plenty to celebrate!
