GILMORE GIRLS star Lauren Graham lauded her close relationship with co-star Alexis Bledel despite it being nearly 20 years since the show ended.

“It just feels like no time has passed, it’s like a high school reunion. The faces change a little bit but the relationship is like, you click back in,” Graham said ahead of her appearance at the Emmys with Bledel. “This is kind of the party we’re having for the 25th [anniversary of the premiere of GILMORE GIRLS], there’s isn’t another event so we’re just gonna really enjoy it as much as we can, I’m so thankful to be here; it’s so cool.”

The pair came together on screen for the first time since their four-episode reboot, GILMORE GIRLS: A YEAR IN THE LIFE, released on Netflix in November of 2016. The show has remained a cultural cornerstone for years, often shooting to the top of Netflix’s show list during the fall.

“It’s wonderful. I swear the show is bigger now than it was at any peak of when it was on the air, and it’s just so strange to me,” said the show’s creator, Amy Sherman-Palladino. “When we started this show, kids were not walking around with cell phones. There was no social media… it’s always interesting to me that [kids today] can relate to a show that’s such a foreign time to them, and yet there’s something in it that they can connect to. I think that’s amazing.”

While there is no event scheduled to celebrate 25 years of GILMORE GIRLS, fans will still get a special treat through the documentary SEARCHING FOR STARS HOLLOW. The full-length documentary reveals how the show was brought to life and why it continues to resonate with old and new fans so many years later. Some of the cast members that have been interviewed for the documentary include Kelly Bishop, Jared Padalecki, Chad Michael Murray, Keiko Agena, Sally STruthers, Liz Torres and director Jamie Babbit.

“The interviews that we’ve already conducted with the cast have been a delight,” said documentary director Meghna Balakumar. “We’ve shot more than 100 hours of footage and have already unearthed stories, commentary, critiques and more. And we’re continuing to shoot more interviews in the coming months to present the most complete, full and truly new story of the show’s impact and legacy that is only possible at this historical moment.”

Meanwhile, while Graham and Bledel have yet to be confirmed for the documentary, Graham recently revealed she is always interested in doing more things GILMORE GIRLS.

“I would, yes!” she said when asked if she would return for another reboot project. “I always say yes because it’s the best part I ever had, and I love doing it. It was the perfect material at the perfect time with the perfect writer, and it just means so much to me.”

It was exciting to see Graham and Bledel back together during the Emmys this year and fun to know that they have great chemistry off screen as well.
