So, what can fans of ALL CREATURES GREAT AND SMALL expect from Season 6 of the popular show?

“Season 6 of ALL CREATURES GREAT AND SMALL takes us back to the rolling hills of the Yorkshire Dales, where life in Darrowby is starting to find its rhythm again as the war in Europe winds down,” an official description from PBS reads

It continues, “It’s 1945, and the Skeldale family is stepping into a new chapter — one shaped by change, hope, and the opportunities that come with a more peaceful future. There are new veterinary cases to tackle, growing families, and a few new faces around town. But at its core, the show continues to celebrate what it always has: community, compassion, and connection. The war may have left its mark, but the people of Darrowby keep showing up for each other — and their creatures.”

Ralph, who plays vet James Herriot, told the Radio Times that his character is “in a much better, solid, grounded place,” following the events of Season 5.

Warning — some spoilers ahead!

James is still recovering from a bout of brucellosis, but “we’re jumping four years into the future and so he’s had time to deal with that, with the help of Helen [his wife],” Ralph shared. “In the years that we haven’t seen him, that has been a process.”

“But now he’s back doing what he does best, with a little sidekick in Jimmy. It’s wonderful to have his son out there with him in his little vet’s coat with his little bag,” he continued. “And he’s really taken to it, as well. He’s got a bit of swagger about him and he knows the lingo, some of the veterinary jargon, so it’s just a joy to be able to experience that for James.”

We can’t wait to see what new adventures the characters of ALL CREATURES GREAT AND SMALL get into in Season 6!
