THIS IS US star Chrissy Metz might enjoy Hollywood success, but for the actress, her faith is “so much bigger” than any career highs.

“There’s so many different ways to even out for me. I mean, first and foremost is my relationship with God and praying, asking, pleading, and also just being very grateful,” she said during an episode of the “Jesus Calling” podcast.

Metz shared that she starts each day with a gratitude list, “because life is fleeting, life is precious, people are going through so much — but you can always find at least ten things to be grateful for.”

The actress also pointed out that technology and podcasts are a way for her to stay connected to her faith throughout the day.

“Whether it’s relatable stories or scripture or readings, all those things have been really, really, helpful,” she said, adding, “And I’m very close to my family, so I often speak to my sisters who give me great perspective.”

Metz continued, “The industry is so incredible, and I am so grateful for what I get to do. But life is so much bigger than Hollywood, so I always have to remind myself of that because I certainly know how to pick things apart and [think], Oh, I’m not good enough or I wasn’t worthy of this role. I just know that what’s meant for me will find me, even if I’m running away from it. This is in God’s time, not mine.”

Metz often speaks about her Christian faith, and even co-authored a faith-based book for children, “When I Talk To God, I Talk About Feelings.”

Speaking to the Christian Post about the theme of the book, the actress explained, “You really can talk to God about anything. Anyone, everyone, at any time. And for me, I do that all day, every day.”

“When I can sort of ground myself in prayer and just remember that I’m a child of God…that, for me, is very humbling,” she continued. “But also, it sort of grounds me in that no matter what, I don’t have to accomplish anything. I’m made in the image and likeness of God, and that’s enough.”

In an interview with TV Insider, Metz said of the book, “Teaching preschool, having 10 nieces and nephews, being the middle child of five kids, you really understand how important it is to validate feelings and to talk about them and to name them. … I think that if we can have kids understand their feelings and then feel validated and then feel seen and heard, we can make a difference in the world.”

From starring in hit TV shows to penning successful books, Metz is proof that we’re all running on “God’s time” — and His plan.
