Gary Sinise shared his heart for our nation’s heroes as he explained why he commits himself to serving veterans whenever possible.
“While we can never do enough for our nation’s heroes, we can always do a little more,” Sinise told Great American Journal.
His foundation, the Gary Sinise Foundation, helps veterans and first responders in many areas of their life — from giving them homes when they return back from war to providing them with entertainment while overseas. Though he has always had a heart for those who step up our nation, his desire to serve them was really stepped up after the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.

“Supporting our nation’s heroes is my lifelong mission and I will continue to serve it faithfully,” Sinise shared. “It’s an honor to be recognized and the best part is that I get to, in turn, shine a light and recognize the true heroes who serve our country.”
To further his mission, Sinise created his foundation in 2011 and has since received over $500 million in donations to continue to provide for veterans.
“If you’re somebody that lived through that, multiple deployments throughout that time, saw friends lose their lives, get hurt, go into the hospitals, have to suffer terrible injuries and live with those injuries. And then you wonder, like why we went through all that,” Sinise told CBS News. “People are struggling and suffering. We want them to know that regardless of what happened, their service mattered.”
Amazingly, Sinise has used his platform to highlight the sacrifices of veterans across multiple wars, from WWII to the Vietnam war to more recent wars like the Iraq war.

Sinise and his organization continue to have an incredible impact on our country. Not only have they supported thousands of veterans, but they also help everyday Americans honor those who have sacrificed so much to show their gratitude for the freedom we enjoy.
