What You Need To Know:
With a strong moral worldview, MARVEL ZOMBIES is a very fast-paced, mature-themed animated series that is entertaining, yet full of excessive horror elements. However, despite the genre, there are many scenes of comedic relief in a very well-animated style. The plot centers on aspects of hope in hopeless situations, as well as the importance of honoring friendship and love. Ultimately, evil prevails. This series is excessively immoral, with evil prevailing, excessive violence, gore, evil use of magical powers, and gross depiction of undead corpses – especially as an animated film on a children’s accessible streaming service with mature content. MOVIEGUIDE® recommends extreme caution for all viewers.
Content:
A strong moral worldview where there is a clear line of good vs. evil, however politics and general distrust of a dystopian world without law complicates the plot. This series focuses on hope and friendship in the face of a hopeless circumstance that does not have a happy ending, which does leave the audience hopeless. However, as more of a thought experiment within the Marvel Universe, it lies outside of the expected timeline which is entertaining to think about but this series’ dependence on excessive evil and gore is just not necessary. Characters’ abilities are heavily relied on technology or magic abilities that are not realistic and serve the plot when convenient. However, characters are admirably brave in the face of impossible odds and choose what is in the best interest of their friends and the mission. Characters may fall into despair, but they come back and fight until the end. However, as the antagonist is an evil and possessed witch with incredibly strong powers, there are elements of an occult worldview as well – even though this is used to highlight the morality of the protagonists. Overall, this series does not hold much hope for humanity in a dystopian world with all the good characters sacrificing and the only one left standing makes the wrong choice;
7 obscenities (1 sh**, 2 hell, 1 d*mn, 1 bada**, 1 a**hole, 1 godd*mn); a character mentions vomiting, but does not do it;
Excessive violence and gore throughout, including: undead corpses, bloody gore/guts, dismemberment, biting, etc. Many action/fight scenes that include explosions, hand-to-hand combat, guns, magic, advance technology and unrealistic stunts. Characters jumping from buildings, body mutilations such as a zombie being ripped in half. Characters often sacrifice themselves for a mission;
No sex;
No nudity;
Characters shown drinking and drunk in Episode 3;
No smoking or drug abuse; and,
Overall the characters act in very black and white categories, of good vs. evil.

Episode 1 introduces this apocalypse with a zombie getting shot in the head with an arrow. A trio of young women —Kate, Miriam & Kamala — are scouting the edge of a decayed and abandoned city, with the remains of Iron Man’s suit, Friday. A ship flies over and crashes. Kamala uses her magic bangle to find a small device in the pilot’s corpse. They are attacked and escape home with the device to analyze it. It is a shrunken subspace transmitter that will require an S.H.I.E.L.D. motherboard, which could be the only hope of helping Earth reach Novacore. They head to Ohio after tracking a signal.
Taking an unexpected shortcut, they find themselves in a storm that zombies and other powerful beings accompany, and characters must make sacrifices to save each other. After explosions rain down, a mysterious character appears who is familiar with the device and steps in to help. The team is overrun, despite their defenses, and needs to retreat to space, but they lack a suitable ship.
Episode 2 begins with a flashback to the initial event that led to societal collapse five years earlier. Two best friends, Shang-Chi and Katy Chen, are running for their lives as explosions and zombies, even giant ones, are everywhere. Cut to 5 years later, and the group is in a Mad-Mex style vehicle caravan through the desert. After an attack, they arrive at the settlement, with a vessel going to the last safe place on Earth: New Asgard. Both groups join up there. When a super-zombie is awakened at the ocean’s bottom, after a vicious battle, the heroes must get into the escape pods, but another character must sacrifice themself.

Thor, Groot, and Rocket appear to help. Will a character step up to sacrifice himself to defeat Zombie Thanos? Spider-Man and Doctor Strange’s heads are rescued by a magic portal that leads them to Kamar-Taj, home of the Masters of the Mystic Arts. The Queen of the Dead is gathering an army.
The heroes arrive at New Asgard, and Valkyrie lets them in. They enter a hall full of drinking men and find Thor sitting on a throne, unresponsive. Valkyrie explains that the Wakanda Event broke him. The Queen of Sokovia is there to share the bounty of her kingdom – Wanda Maximoff: The Queen of the Dead. She claims Thanos released too much power, and she must destroy it. When they do not side with her, Wanda reveals a harsh reality.
Episode 4 picks right up as Novacore ships threaten them to return to the planet. They fall to Earth and are rescued with portals to Kamar-Taj. The Queen of the Dead has amassed an army to defeat Hulk, who is containing the energy. They prepare for Earth’s final battle, grateful that Kamala has led them to this: to honor their lost friends and family. But is this a lost cause?
