Alice Cooper witnessed a miracle in his life after he had alcohol poisoning from drinking heavily.
“I woke up one morning, threw up blood,” Cooper previously told Pastor Greg Laurie on PRAISE. At the time, Cooper’s wife, Sheryl, grabbed him by the ear and told him, “Party’s over.”
“Internally my pancreas and liver were being destroyed,” Cooper explained in a separate interview.
Sheryl and Cooper’s manager, Shep Gordon, held an intervention for the rockstar. They told him, “We couldn’t love you more, and this is tough love.”
Then “I was in an institute, you know, to stop,” he explained. “And you know what? After two days, I felt great. But I kept going, ‘When I get outta here I’m gonna go back to my thing and it’s going to be everywhere.’”
But when he walked out of there, he never once went back to drugs or alcohol. He has 38 years of sobriety.
“God literally took it away from me,” he explained.
“People say, ‘You’re a cured alcoholic.’ And I go, ‘No, I was a healed alcoholic.’ God took it away from me,” he explained. “Even the doctor said, ‘It’s impossible that you don’t at least fall of the wagon at least three or four times because you’re the classic alcoholic.’”
“And I said is ‘What you don’t understand is God took it away from me…It’s a miracle,’” Cooper said.
After a while, the doctor admitted that it must be a miracle.
“Because they said, ‘Everything about your life should be deception. That’s [what] an alcoholic and a drug addict does. They put on this air that they’re cured, but back here they’re doing this and they’re doing that.’ That never happened,’” Cooper said.
The doctor told him, “You’re a one in a million case.” Cooper said, “Well, God works like that.”
After that, the musician started to go to church and developed a strong faith in Christ. Premier Christian News reported this year that Cooper prays for 10 minutes before every show and teaches a weekly Bible study.
“[Jesus is] everything. I mean…we’re not here without Him.” Cooper said. “Most people I know, young people, think Jesus Christ is a swear word…they have no idea who Jesus Christ is. He’s not preached enough, you know.”
“[He’s the] most written about character of all time, in history, and yet people go out of their way to not believe in Him,” he said.
It’s incredible to see how God can transform anyone’s life!
