The first trailer for DRINK COFFEE, TALK FAST, an upcoming documentary about hit TV show GILMORE GIRLS, has fans ready to hear all the behind-the-scenes secrets from their favorite stars.

“GILMORE GIRLS is part of entertainment history,” the documentary’s Kickstarter page reads. “For the first time ever, it is time for the cast, crew and fans to share their stories in the all-new historical documentary DRINK COFFEE, TALK FAST, a transformative look at the history of a television show, creating the definitive portrait of one of the most beloved television series of all time.”

The documentary, originally titled SEARCHING FOR STARS HOLLOW, will feature appearances from the series’ stars, like Kelly Bishop, Jared Padalecki, Chad Michael Murray, Keiko Agena and Sally Struthers.

In the newly-released trailer, Bishop reflected on GILMORE GIRLS’ enduring message, saying, “That was the amazing thing about it. It told you that as long as you have one person who loves you, you can make it.”

Padalecki and Agena even got teary-eyed as they reflected on their time on the show, but there were also plenty of light-hearted moments in the trailer, too.

“Tristan totally would have been endgame,” Murray joked, referring to his character, a short-lived love interest. Others pitched their best spin-off ideas, with Padalecki suggesting a series that would have his character, Dean, living next door to onscreen rival Jess, played by Milo Ventimiglia.

Meghna Balakumar and Kevin Konrad Hanna are the documentary’s directors, with Adam F. Goldberg executive producing and Jim Demonakos producing.

“The interviews that we’ve already conducted with the cast have been a delight,” Balakumar said in a statement about the doc. “We’ve shot more than 100 hours of footage and have already unearthed stories, commentary, critiques, and more. And we’re continuing to shoot more interviews in the coming months to present the most complete, full and truly new story of the show’s impact and legacy that is only possible at this historical moment.”

In a statement of his own, Demonakos added, “As one of the most celebrated and rewatched series of the 21st century, the show has inspired audiences to dream bigger, talk faster, and cherish the people and places that feel like home.”

“DRINK COFFEE, TALK FAST will reveal how GILMORE GIRLS came to life, why it continues to resonate across generations, and how its unique blend of humor, heart, and pop culture shaped a devoted worldwide fan community with an in-depth look at its creation and the connections it continues to foster,” he continued. “This documentary is for fans of the show but also for anyone with an interest in cultural history and how it affects individual lives.”

DRINK COFFEE, TALK FAST doesn’t have an official release date yet, but fans of GILMORE GIRLS are anxiously awaiting this closer look at the beloved show.
