As Matthew West prepares for a busy season of headlining two back-to-back tours, he also released a new Christmas album to help his fans prepare their hearts for the advent season.
“It might not quite be the Christmas season yet…but I couldn’t wait any longer! My new album ‘Come Home for Christmas’ is out now,” West wrote on Instagram. “These songs were written to prepare your heart for the holidays and remind us what we’re really celebrating – the moment Hope came back to earth. Every lyric points back to one thing: Jesus. I hope these songs fill your home with peace and joy this Christmas season.”

The album includes a mix of original songs and classics including “Come Home for Christmas,” “Dysfunctional Family Christmas,” “Joy To The World” and “O Little Town Of Bethlehem.”
“My family and I love the Christmas season and listen to Christmas music around the clock all through the holidays,” West told The Christian Beat. “‘Come Home For Christmas’ is a special record to me. I got to record my versions of some of the classics and also write a few new ones. I hope this collection of songs can be a soundtrack for the Christmas season and a reminder that the invitation is extended to all of us to come home to the true meaning of Christmas.”
A huge fan of the advent season, West is often on tour during the holidays to help fans across the country celebrate Christmas. However, despite going on tour during the first half of December, West is also sure that he is home in time to celebrate the holidays with his family as well. West also helps fans get into the Christmas spirit outside of his music through a book that reveals what the season is all about.
“It’s a book inspired by the invitation to not just physically return home…but to take that a step deeper, a step further, into that spiritual homecoming,” he told Fox News host Shannon Bream on her podcast last year when the book, Come Home for Christmas, was released. “How long has it been since you felt that feeling of wonder?”
“As we grow up, we tend to grow out of the wonder of Christmas and even the message of why we celebrate Christmas,” West added. “That almost can sort of feel like the light has dimmed somewhat in our hearts, you know? So this book, honestly it’s a book I needed, and that’s one of the precursors to anything I create…If it’s something I need, I have a feeling somebody else might need it.”
While the Christmas season is still two months away, it is never too early to begin celebrating the birth of Jesus and the wonderful gifts that we enjoy throughout our lives because of His sacrifice on the cross. Come Home For Christmas is now available to stream wherever you listen to music.
