AMERICAN IDOL alum Breanna Nix recently shared how she balances motherhood with her singing career.
“My motherhood is a ministry and I’ve learned that, throughout the years, that’s my first ministry,” she said on an episode of WHOA THAT’S GOOD. “So if I’m serving that, then I can serve my second ministry, which is my marriage. And then my third ministry is what God called me to do, which is sing and worship.”
When Nix initially auditioned for AMERICAN IDOL, she “started fasting…and praying, like really asking God, ‘Lord, is this what You have for my life?’”
“Because, you know, I hear the horror stories with Hollywood,” she explained. “I don’t want to put my spiritual self in danger, my family, especially my son…and every single time I prayed about this, I just felt God tell me, ‘Go.’”
Nix continued, “I fully surrendered that over to God, and was like, ‘Lord, I trust you. I don’t know what the next step is going to look like, but I know You told me to go…and I’m just going to take it step by step.’”

The singer made headlines for her audition in front of the judges, where she sang a moving rendition of “Jesus Take The Wheel.” What really drew people’s attention was her statement that she was “just a stay-at-home mom.”
Judge Carrie Underwood replied, “Never say I’m just a stay-at-home mom, that’s such a major job. You have the most important job.”
Nix frequently shares her faith, crediting it for her burgeoning music career.
“I would not be here without salvation,” she said during a Facebook live earlier this year. “There have been so many times in my life when the devil taunted me with just being dumb, and I am so thankful that God has his hand on me and has kept me safe.”
She continued, “I’ve gotten so much closer to God through this experience. I’ve been able to witness to so many people and minister more than I ever thought possible, and God is just truly so good, and he deserves all my praise. It’s not me. It’s God.”
Speaking about her audition, Nix shared, “I did not expect to make it through, but I told God if I did, I would put him first and that I would share all the things that I need to share, no matter how hard or humble I have to be because I want to strengthen somebody through my testimony and I want someone to know Jesus through my story and everything my family has been through.”
“He’s really blessed me,” Nix concluded. “I can’t wait to tell the world about Jesus.”
Nix is now sharing her faith through her new music, including the single “Another Mile,” which drops November 7.
