Brittany Lutz, an influencer and wife of TWILIGHT star Kellan Lutz, just shared her two top tips to help people read their Bible.
“I will get a lot of DMs asking, ‘How do you read the Bible? It’s boring. I don’t really engage with it. I don’t know what it’s saying.’ Totally get it. Don’t feel bad about that. Don’t feel shame about that,” Lutz began a recent Instagram video. “This obviously was written a long time ago to people with culture and customs and just for everyday norms that are completely different than ours.”
Her followers are right. The Bible is not always easy to read and understand. But that doesn’t mean we should skip reading it.

“I will say that when you start to study, when you hear people who are historians and theologians, and when they can break it down, oh my gosh. The context will open you up to a whole other realm of understanding,” she added.
With a couple pointers in mind, Lutz believes the Bible will come “alive” for anyone who truly seeks God’s truth.
Her first tip? “Don’t read the Bible alone! Invite the Holy Spirit to read with you. Invite God Himself into that time and ask Him to reveal Himself in scriptures, show you things, draw you in, etc.”
Her second tip is to “Speak it! Out loud! Don’t just read silently in your mind. Engage your soul as you read. Pause after each sentence and let it land in your spirit. FF to the end if you want to hear how I personally read scripture when I’m in the secret place with God.”
Lutz has made faith a priority in her life and hopes her testimony encourages others.
“One thing that you will probably pick up on quickly is how important my relationship with Jesus is to me. From singleness, to body issues, to stillbirth and loss, He has been my rock and gotten me through it all, not only happy and whole, but THRIVING! My prayer is that, regardless of what your beliefs are, you’ll feel encouraged and uplifted as you spend time here,” she wrote on her blog page.
