John Cena just cemented his status as one of the greatest WWE wrestlers of all time with his latest win, completing his Grand Slam career.

According to ESPN, Cena’s recent match occurred in his hometown of Boston, where he “won the Intercontinental Championship — in many ways the final piece of the puzzle to what many would call the most prolific career in WWE history.”

“For me, objectively, he is without a doubt, the greatest of all time. And it is my honor to bring him out here now for you all. On your feet, ladies and gentlemen, for your hometown hero. For the one, for the only, the greatest of all time — John Cena!” said WWE CCO Paul “Triple H” Levesque, introducing the legend to a cheering crowd.

Cena defeated “Dirty” Dom Mysterio to take home the Intercontinental title, the last major achievement he hadn’t secured in his WWE career.

“By hoisting the strap onto his shoulder, Cena has joined an exclusive club in becoming a Grand Slam Champion. He has held the WWE Championship, World Heavyweight Championship, United States Championship and now Intercontinental Championship,” CBS Sports reported.

Cena’s final WWE match before retirement will take place on Dec. 13, though his opponent is yet to be announced.

“I’ve been doing this for 23 years, and I’ve never once chosen my opponent,” he said in an interview with the Boston Herald. “I’ve always lived by the philosophy that life will give you opportunities every single day, and you have to do the best you can every single day with what life gives you. So whoever challenges me for that last match, I’m going to give it my best shot.”

Though the star is ready to wrap up an incredible 23-year career, he won’t ever forget one moment that happened in a small town just outside of Boston.

“Walking into Hard Nocks Gym in Amesbury – that changed my life,” Cena revealed. “I met Dave Nocks, and he encouraged me to work my very hardest. At the age of 15, I needed a father figure and a mentor, and Dave was very influential in building the values of who I am. I’m forever for Hard Nocks Gym and Dave Nocks.”

His final match will headline Saturday Night’s Main Event at Monumental Sports & Entertainment’s Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. next month.

“It is our great privilege to host John Cena’s historic final match at Capital One Arena, a staple venue that has consistently witnessed dozens of marquee WWE events over the years,” said Jordan Silberman, President, Venues at Monumental Sports & Entertainment. “There’s no stage more fitting to celebrate the legacy of a true entertainment icon than our building, with a backdrop anchored in the heart of Downtown D.C.”

Triple H added, “John’s contributions to WWE are immeasurable. There are no words that can truly relay how much he means to this business. Together with our partners at Events DC and Capital One Arena, we look forward to honoring his legacy and delivering an unforgettable send-off for both John and the WWE Universe.”

Fans can either attend the event in person or tune in on Peacock to stream it in primetime.
